I have planning to make oil and filter change in my WCC.
I have STEF'S oil pan with front pump and remote filter.
I have stock dipstick near distributor, i think it was cut and show only a "safe" mark.
Does this "safe" mark mean full in oil pan?
Now a have 3/4 inch over this mark and i had some oil overflow from dipstick.
I don't want overfilling my pan, but i want be sure that i have put enought lube oil.
Do i must stay only little over this safe mark on dispstick?

Hi, We need to first know the capacity or part number??. If you dont know part number of the pan then take several good photos of the pan and I’m sure others here on club cobra May recognize the pan to better help you. But if you had oil pushed out the dip stick tube while running and level shows it’s 3/4” above the Safe Mark when cold, chances are it’s over filled. Once you know the exact capacity of your STEFS oil pan, then we can suggest the correct dip stick to purchase and calibrate it to your application. Here is one example for the 460 , STEFS Part number 1070. It is 7 US quarts capacity with oil filter and measures 9 inches deep. This assumes your pan is a wet sump type. They also sell dry sump pans for racing.

And......, I would change the oil and filter with 5 fresh quarts start it up for a few seconds to fill the filter shut it off let it sit for an hour or so and see where the dip stick registers. Then add 1/2 quart and remeasure. Depending on how long your remote filter lines are, 7 total quarts plus a little more to account for remote lines should be close. Some Stef pans are custom made to customer specs so hard to know design capacity without more info. My guess is the stock dipstick was modified to work with the Stef pan? ?

Hi, i attached the pan and dipstick images. i think it's 1070 STEF pan and dipstick was cut at 15-7/8 inch. I will do like you suggested me: put little less than 7 quart (my total would be 7 quart + a quarters part for line to remote filter). My last query is: "safe mark" mean full pan?

STEFS website shows part # 1070 will have a capacity of 7 quarts with filter. So I would drain the oil and remove the filter ( assuming the remote oil filter lines do not drain completely) Then add the fresh oil filter and 6 quarts of oil and start the engine to fill the filter. Turn off the engine and recheck in a few hours with dip stick and this should be MINIMUM oil level. Then while engine is still off and cold add 1 more quart and Mark this as the MAXIMUM oil level. The distance between these two marks should be considered your SAFE level of oil.
