Just got back from vacation and glad to see some discussion about this. Anybody able to get their WCC measured up for a mold.

the tops Lou has shown in his post

the right pic is the kellison top that vern was offering years ago but didn't pay the vendors so the templates and engineering was lost

the problem with copying it is it has front and rear molded fiberglass bows. the top would have to be destroyed beyond use to copy and my feelings are i don't want to even think about having a hartz cloth top remade. to guess, as i had looked into it previously, would be in the 3 to 4 thousand range to make

Leave it to Vern to screw things up...nice looking top. Food for thought,, how about a bikini top with a lip that would slide over the windshield channel a tie it to the roll bar with straps much like those on jeeps.

OK...I'm just confused. I spent considerable time checking into Rods tops and was talking about someone having Rod measure up their WC and make a template. If we were able to go in as a group, we could save some money but it's not mandatory that we go in as a group.

This thread seems to have gone completely sideways.....

Anyone actually interested or not??

Yes, I'd love to see what we could do. I would like to have a top made and am thinking about driving my ride to a shop specializing in marine to do something custom. However, they need the hardware to make something. They said they had done roadster tops before, but they had the old top and the hardware. This is where I am. I need to understand the hardware, or get something which is standard AC parts and make something between all of this that will fit.

I've discussed this at length with car builders and WCC owners. The consensus seems to weigh on the side of "don't worry about it" because of the best top will be a bad driving experience. Things like wind buffeting your ears and the logistics of getting in and out of the car with a top.

My thinking is I'd like to have it so I can take it away on a weekend and if it rains or if you have to drive through some rain, light or otherwise, you at least have an option besides pull over and wrap WCC in a car cover.
