Has anyone replaced on the Saginaw reservoir one of those power steering flow valves that reduce pressure to the Mustang II rack ?

I have not yet set up my power steering. I'm headed in that direction next in a few weeks. I saw an article in past volume of "Street Rodder" discussing this very topic. I'll take a look at it and post anything worthwhile. There are parts you can order for pressures for the Mustang ii power steering unit. If I'm not mistaken you add spacers to adjust your bypass pressure. I'll see if I can find an exerpt and post a quote.

Changed valve this weekend huge difference the squirly feeling is gone "THE BEST 33.00 I EVER SPENT ON THIS CAR THE BIGGEST IMPROVMENT!!!!!

130752596961 - Power Steering Flow Valve- Pressure Reducer GM Saginaw Pump To Mustang II Rack from J.P.L. Street Rods on ebay

The GM pump puts out 3 gallons per minute of flow, and the optimum rate for the Mustang Power Rack is 2 gallons per minute. This valve is the solution to that problem, it will lower the flow down to the OEM Ford approved 2 gallons per minute. This valve easily installs on the back side of the pump.

I agree with Kingsbolt, if you dont set up your power steering system flow rate to work correctly with the steering rack used in your build, you will have over-assist. Several vendors sell the valves, SPEEDWAY motors has a good instruction sheet on their website on how to install it.

I installed the shim kit for the pressure valve insid ethe saginaw pump. I also had to add a PS oil cooler to lower the fluid temps to save the pump and rack seals from a painful death.[
