Here is a sketch of the cooling module I have put together, followed by the finished product. It is a custom Griffin Rad with twin 13" SPAL fans. Leak tested and no leaks so far ! And yes I need a larger capacity alt. to feed fans

Thanks for the pic. My WCC is back at the engine shop. Pulling out the Electromotive and installing a FAST ECU for my fuel injection. Also looking into the overheating issues. Will be interested in how your fan set-up performs.

Cooling System Results:

As I expected and wanted, the cooling system is over engineered. The 180F thermostat opens and at 185F (current conservative SPAL fan switch rating) the fans then kick in and can cool motor down and keep it there at 160F at an idle with ambient of 70F! This tells me rad/ fan combo work well together and will be OK in the higher ambients. So now I just have to change my fan switch. I found a GM switch @ NAPA that turns on @ 215F and off at 200F, and should work just fine when low speed cooling is needed in summer heat. Ideally I am looking for a 205 F turn on temp and 190 off temp switch. If you know of a part number like that let me know. More later.

Garage10 - The rebuild is underway. The new cam is in and the FAST controller is being installed. We are changing a couple of things on the injectors and fuel pressure to deliver about 47lbs at 60 psi. Higher pressure gives better atomization of the fuel. On the other side of that coin, I am having to get a new fuel cell as the original one was tapped for a fuel return (necessary in FI setups). When the return fuel enters the top of the current tank it creates tremendous amount of vapors (stinks and could be very explosive). The new tank will have an internal tube that delivers the return fuel to the bottom of the tank and therefore greatly reducing vapor production.

Kitcar - Dakota makes a digital fan switch that allows you to either set two fans to come on at the same temp or one fan to come on at a lower temp and the other at a higher temp of your choice. Check it out....I did a search for digital auto fan controllers and found it...

Thanks Mike I will compare this to the SPAL fan controller. SPAL I know is robust since its OEM level quality.

EDIT
I checked out the Dakota and I like it, the only down side is it cant vary the fan speed like the spal unit, decisions, decisions !
