Default Looking for a GT 40

I purchased a used (700 miles) Superformance Daytona coupe.
I love the car.
Now I am looking to buy a Superformance - preferably - GT 40.
Used with very low mileage.
Where can I find this car?
Is there another manufacturer besides Superformance that offers
a comparable, well built car?

Would you consider an RCR (Race Car Replica)? If so there is a doctor here in Tulsa that has a spf Cobra and a RCR GT 40. The GT 40 is white with blue stripes. It has a 347 Stroker and normally aspirated. PM me and I will send you his email address. I think the mileage is less than 500 miles.

Lots of good tips in this thread already.

Some of the leading GT40 replica manufacturers I'm aware of include:
  • CAV GT
  • ERA Replicas
  • Race Car Replicas (RCR)
  • Superformance (official licensed continuation-series GT40s)
  • Tornado Sports Cars
If you check out the GT40 section on Cobra Country, you'll see a nice SPF GT40 MkII for sale at $125K.

This is on the other side of the country, but not sure what your color/body type specifications are. I just saw recently that Dynamic Auto West has a Superformance MkII less driveline for sale that seems to be priced well:

Check with Olthoff Racing. A friend who had a Ford GT and recently replaced it with a SPF GT40 got his there. He put the Roush 427R (same engine as my Cobra but normally aspirated) and not only is it cool but it is a rocket.

I have owned an SPF GT40 MK11(2103) and a CAV gt40 mk1. I sold the SPF and kept the CAV, mostly because I prefer the MK1 body style, but the CAV is just easier to drive day to day. It is quieter and more water proof(the SPF leaks from every where). Both are similiar quality, but the SPF is more authenic in its chassis design and suspension. I prefer the way the CAV front end hinges. The SPF has to be removed to do any work there and it is a pain. All GT40s are a challenge to drive in traffic and a SPF Daytona is easier than either a cobra or the GT to drive every day. If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

ENTDOC - You got good taste in cars....

Ermenasce (& anyone else looking for GT40s) - You'd do VERY well to stop by here

Roaring Forties - Replica GT40s

They may be based on the other side of the globe, but trust me when I say - these are VERY VERY good.

Furhter: they'll come equipped with features most US cars wouldn't have... as they are build to a higher engineering requirement due to local ADRs like side impact intrusion bars, etc...

The torsional rigidity is from memory on the tens of thousands NM/degree.
I some what vaguely recall over 17000nm/degree (Pls don't take my word here... memory is like a sieve) but alas the chassis was unrivaled.
Just for some perspective & to compare most cobras would struggle to get 5000nm per degree, and compared to other GT40s (US & other Aussie kits) it was nearly twice as high.

I second that !
I almost traded my cobra to Fran to build his RCR GT-40. It's a remarkable car. I wish I could now afford a GT-40, but it's out of my price range of how I would build one.

I prefer it over the SPF.

everything but the polished manifold and air cleaner, and the horrible blue and red fittings would have to go. Save those for the cruize in crowd.

OK Jeff, I should have put real into "" so here goes; It's more "real" than an SPF. And yes there are differences that warrent attention.
