Default Ford GT on Hemmings for Sale

Interesting only 9 miles on this one. Sort of reminds me of all the Viper owners that tucked their cars away when purchased.

But it is NOT a "GT40"....it is a "Ford GT" and there is big difference! I know many use the "GT40" tag to get more hits but it will never be a "GT40" as Ford does not own the trademark............................

You are absolutely correct. I was lazy with the title.

The stock market indices have done pretty well too (2005-2014), but I gotta say that, depending on your buy in, the 2005-2006 Ford GT has done about the same or better.

How can any real car guy let a really cool car just sit and NOT want to "light it up"?!?!?

Speculators vs. car guys. Sorry, but put your money in the market if you don't want to drive them!

We have a local Ford dealer in Redwood City that has a dark blue GT on the showroom floor that has never been driven AFAIK. Sad.

However, I did see one driving around the neighborhood this weekend. Quite a rare sight.

Rodknock would probably tell you that show off your portfolio isn't as much fun as showing off your car...

I agree cars should be driven! Buy some art for the wall instead.

Actually, it's always more fun walking around town with the portfolio statement, but often can get quite embarrassing when even the admin's for any successful tech company LOL with their much larger portfolio statements.

I bought my low miles Heritage two (almost 3) years ago for way less than people are now paying for red low miles cars. I'm trying to keep it under 5000 miles before I part with it, but maybe I won't (part with it, that is). It's a hard car to drive in Vegas - it's a 90% blind spot so I almost need a follow along spotter to drive it on the street. At least I have a double garage door now.

I would counter that showing a sweet young thing at a bar your bank balance will get you father than "want to see my Ferrari parked in the garage?"

Actually years ago my wife dropped an American Express Black Card and she caused such a ruckus at the boutique she was in.

Your wife carries around her own means of paying?

All this time I thought you were "well off"

Mk I -
Street
Height 40.5
Weight 2350+

Mk II
Height 40.5
Weight 2650+

Mk IV
Height 39.4
Weight 2400+

05 GT -
Height 44.3
Weight 3500

MkI for me, but I love all the 40's A replica would do fine. For what a GT costs, I could have a wicked replica with the beautiful 40 scale.

Well she passed in her early 40's with cancer. She was African American and honestly had that feeling about being discriminated. If I was present there's usually no problem but at times being a woman she was discriminated and once even at an automobile dealership once. If she was alone one of my driver/security men were with her and she would have her frigging Hermes birkin bag(empty) and had the black A/E stuffed in her bra. She always dressed up...me shorts and a white t-shirt.

I remember talking to one of the managers at Griffen Ford in Greenwich just before orders were being taken. He was going to order one himself and we were talking about future values. I think more were built than we thought were going to be built. I have been looking at all the sales and might pick up the one from the Pond collection. I purchased two cars from them and was offered their red GT but declined.

we'll see.

I was re-reading this thread. Sorry guys for multiple posts.

I agree I always say fire that mother up. However some older most would consider investment automobiles do sit idle. They weren't considered investments with my grandfather but these days holy crap.

I'm guilty though. I really don't want to mention the makes but I do have two that still have about 11 and 17 miles each on them. I have never driven them or anyone else for that matter to my knowledge other than the factory. They came from one of the biggest collections out there.

When I bought my GT I asked a friend at Ford (fairly high up) if he could do a look see for any dealers that might have one in inventory. He told me that the dealers with the remaining cars "think highly of them" and keep a price on them that noone in their right mind would pay because they have to officially have it for sale to have in their unregistered inventory (often a dealer demo).

Indeed, FGTs are rarely seen in the wild. I'm one that people see but have only seen one other besides those I predict will be seen at or on the way to things like Cars and Coffee...
