Obviously not too interested in the new GT, but am interested in the Focus RS that Ford has been promising.

AWD 350HP 2 door lightweight...WHERE IS THAT, FORD??? That's what I want.

Ford literally has its engineers hiding in a basement getting this hen tooth made, all along promising us the Focus, and presto-chango the liars say what we really planned was this trillion dollar garage troll for the .001 % and all you common folk who actually believed we would give the likes of you a TRUE performance car can just pick up your toothbrushes and get back to cleaning the grout lines in our bathrooms.

No one that is not willing or able to spend $500K+ is going to get one. Period.

Very limited build and very high price.

It's cool but steps away from classic GT40 in a major way. Ford merely build their own Porsche 918 or McLaren 650S or Aventadore, or Enzo (take your pick) and called it the new "GT". It was in now way or manner intended to be a return or reissue of an updated GT40 like the Petunia GT.

REAL 1,
I agree, but still think that Ford did it because they know the mid-engine 'Vette is coming and they have to keep up if they want to compete on the race circuit, which they have apparently committed to via the Ganassi commitment. It's definitely a rich man's game and way out of most folks wheelhouse, and that would include mine!

$249,000 has been bantered about in the Ford tents.

Of course whether they will hold the DAV markup to a minimum will be the key to the final selling price.

The RS is coming, and to the US. The GT program did/does not affect the RS program in any way.

Even at that number....That's before ADMs. It will take $350k to $400k even at an MSRP of $250k. You'll see. I'd go with a new GT3 first or a new Viper ACR that's coming.

I've already got a "classic" FGT (I think I can say that now).

With the number of times Evan has said "Petunia" in this thread, I won't ever be able to look at a 2000s Ford GT without thinking of a dainty little flower... Hardly the image Ford engineers would have been looking for.

Can we get started on a dumb name for the new one? I'll start with Daffodil.

"Orchid" would probably better fit its rare and pricey nature if you are looking for a botanical name. But I could have sworn I saw where Ford was referring to it as "Phoenix" though that may have been some kind of internal code.

Just how tall is this new version? More, or less than 40 inches? GT44? GT50?

Petunia in the reference is the skunk, for skunkworks.

Sorry. Just trying to differentiate the two "GTs". Maybe I'll just say gen 2 GT or 05/06 GT.

The petunia reference is fine Evan. Most Ford people and gear heads remember the designation. Much like the stillborn "Daisy" Cobra project.

I'm just playing Evan. It's part of the history of the car and will always be remembered as the project name. It just feels out of place; like naming an American Pit Bull Doris or Beryl or Gladys..!

Lol! True, Craig. Funny tho - we had a huge bull mastiff named Daisy Duke. She was a gorgeous dog. Sadly, we lost her last year.

Exciting times ahead for cars in the next couple of years. I can't wait to see the performance numbers for the GT.

I agree Buzz, but I hope the performance numbers are taken in the context of what the car is built for.
If horsepower, 0-60 and quarter mile times are the reference, I think everyone will have missed the point. I think a number of cars - probably even many cheaper domestic cars - will have better acceleration times and maybe even top speeds, but the Ford will hopefully be a pure drivers car that stops and handles like a true international exotic.

You're right, of course. But in the Ford vs Chevy and the rest loyalist camp, these numbers are king. There'll be rioting in the Ford camp if the C8 ZR1 Zora kicks the GT's boat tail butt on paper.

145-150k according to a good source. Based on less mass I believe this car will compete with all its higher powered more expensive friends.

More like $250k plus dealer mark up, it is all hand laid CF, lots of high dollar labor in this car.
