Now that sounds very encouraging.

Why only a 7 speed when there's a new 10 speed available?
No mention of air conditioning.
Why heavy aluminum wheels when Ford has carbon fiber wheels available...I thought the whole design was predicated on low weight?
No convertible or removable top? How many decades back does Ford think they're competing in? Going against the current Lambo with only a fixed top model of the GT?

It's a race car!

7-speed: That is the trans used on the Daytona Prototype cars.

The street version and race version does have air conditioning (race because it is mandated by FIA for GTE class). And cruise control. But no cup holders.

CF Wheels: That not the production vehicle.

Convertible: It's a race car!

This vehicle is, first, a race car. The Ford GT was a street car first, and some privateers made race cars out of them (and trust me, the "insides" of those cars barely resemble a Ford GT. Next time one of the Matech cars comes near you take a look. This time the car is a race car first and the street cars are being homologated in the same manner that the original Cobras and Ford GTs were brought to the street. They're not going to be the most comfortable things in the world. The seats are built into the carbon fiber tub so no 7-way adjustable seats. The driver is about 3" from the passenger (look at the width of the center console) - two "burly" dudes are going to be rubbing shoulders. Etc...

But the weight of the race version will be at or below GTE minimum. The weight:HP ratio for the V6 will be best in class. Ford is going for a 3-peat in 2016.

As far as I'm concerned, it is a beautiful car. A modern super car. Not meant to replicate the original like the 2005-7 ford GT's. Not thrilled about a supercharged six cylinder engine. But then I liked the normally aspirated F-1 engines way more than the turbocharged 2014 versions. They just sounded wrong.

Is it worth several hundred thousand dollars? Was the Lexus LF-A worth several hundred thousand dollars? Nope!

It is worth every penny of the $400K asking base price IMHO. Worth is subjective isn't it? Many thought the Gen II FGT was over priced at $167K. Not me which is the price I bought my FGT for. Only 1200 of the NFGT will be produced world wide with about 600 remaining for U.S. distribution over 4 years. It will be a million dollar car within short order after they are sold especially if they do well at LeMans and resale restrictions extingish. They will cause the values of the gen II to rise substantially too. My prediction

Ford has done a great job with deciding to keep them out of dealer hands and avoid ADMs. The will be offered at list giving preference first to current FGT owners. I will be submitting an application for sure and If I am lucky enough to be selected I will be putting one in my garage next to my Gen II FGT and the rest
