New GT

No mention of a hybrid drive system to work in conjunction with 600 HP EcoBoost engine. I am surprised because 600 HP won't cut it against P1, 918 and LaFerrari FXX k or even new mid engine Corvette.

Hehe..........Probably not today.

Dont know enough about the car yet. Pricing is a little detail they failed to mention, on purpose possibly.
The word on the street is ~$400k.
As mentioned above ^ 600hp only puts them in the McL650 and Hurican catagory. And those 2 can be had for less than $400.
...........We shall see.

Be well my friend.

This must be the new GT that Ganassi Racing is putting in their paddock to race at Monterey this year in the Tudor Series and at 24 Hours LeMans. I posted a thread about it a while back with the article. Here it is...

A bit Lotus like.

Very Aventadorish. A little to slick for me.

Hi Bern,

According to Hank the Duce they will be produced next year and to homologate they need some sold to the public prior to racing them so possibly race them in '17. It will be the 50th anniversary of Ford's "All American" win @ Lemans.......so maybe.:)

ADD:
The year 1967 marked the second of four consecutive years in which an American-built car powered by an American engine driven by American drivers racing for an American team won the famous race -- a feat that has never been repeated.

Pricey for a v6 Eco engine.

WhiteBirchFarm 01-12-2015 11:21 AM

I was going to post that price for a V6? No 8 or 12?

They did not announce a price. The eco is in there to conform to the race rules Ford wants for homologation.

They're not going there. The car will compete in LMGT (aka GTE) class. In that class hybrid is specifically disallowed. As is carbon fiber construction, but we may find out that the FIA is going to do away with that at their press conference tomorrow.

Not if the purpose of the car first is to win at Le Mans and homologation is merely an inconvenience. Production numbers expected to be in the 1200 range over 3 to 4 years. Prices expected in the 400K range buy my dealer owner says it will be much greater than that. At 250-300 units per year in a world market there won't be any left for us mere mortals.

ssqpolo 01-12-2015 05:23 PM

looks like a hot car. i am sure many are upset that its not a big blown v8, but this car has the right setup for global appeal and racing homologation. if they can nail the price point below 300k, they will kill the competition of mclaren 650s, aventador, f12/458, etc.

hopefully their resale will be as majestic as the previous generation!!

So, referring to the article about Ganassi racing in 2016 in these cars, this won't happen until after homologation?

Bernica 01-12-2015 05:28 PM

I ask because someone told me that they were going to race them at Monterey this year and about to drop some coin to be there to see them...

ACademic 01-12-2015 06:07 PM

V6 power, and as Real1 suggested, Aventador-esque body queues? I'll go with the minority and boldly state that I'm not impressed (and this coming from a guy that adores the GT).
