Wanted new Superformance GT 40

I am in the immediate market for a brand new or nearly new Superformance GT 40 in the Gulf livery colors left hand drive, mint condition. Not wild about a 2 year wait so thought I would toss this out to you guys to see if there might be one around for sale. Always checking Cobra Country for one but no luck. PM me please if you might know of one in the near future. Thanks, Mark. Yea I know - good luck with that for replies - but if all else fails, a 2 year wait it will be!

Have you checked GT40s.com?

Call Lance Stander at Superformance. He might know things about what is or may be out there. A good guy.

Hillbank has "a handful" listed, don't know if any are Gulf colors though. Call Lance.

Sorry, but who told you "two years"? Perhaps someone who wanted to sell you what they had on hand? Right now less than six months as the factory has ramped up a bit.

Yes, but while we offer most any automotive color as an option, we do draw the line at beige.

Walt said the same thing until he actually shot the paint out the gun. Then he said "you know I had my doubts, but I have to say it's absolutely gorgeous!" True story.

Maybe Patrick prefers "Sandstone" or "Desert Wind" or the color of my Super Duty Ford truck, "Light Prarie Tan" to describe his color.;)

Actually if you call it "desert gold" or "Hooker neutral" or some other marketing name, it ceases to be "beige" and becomes a "cool color":D

And I will tell any current GT40 prospect that currently RHD cars are selling at a substantial premium and MUCH faster than LHD cars. In a RHD GT40 you are only 24 inches to the right compared to LHD and when you pass, you aren't out there very long.............

I believe the correct name is "3M 600 Grit Wet/Dry".

Back when I was thinking of buying an SPF GT40, I had heard that SPF would paint any color but beige. At the time, there was a rumor that a buyer could sneak "Desert Storm Hummer Camouflage" by them but I never tried and I haven't ever seen an SPF GT40 painted anything remotely looking beige.

Olthoff had 2 that color, maybe even 3 there back in Sept. Try calling Dennis. Don't think the 2 in showroom had engine or trans. One in shop was getting engine installed.

Why a superformance?

Tru,

Ihave seen some Superformance GT40's, they are a work of art. They also are true enough to form that some vintage racing groups accept them as being "vintage" even though they are recent builds.

Why not a Superformance, it's the OP's preference, and his money, and that should be good enough.

Because it's the best and most "authentic" of the GT40 replicas. Most GT40 replicas don't have the proper shape and therefore look odd.

Bernica 02-04-2016 03:08 PM

Light Prarie Tan...such a different ring to it than "beige".

Yes, thats a V10 4x4 Super Duty with a 4:30 rear and tow truck suspension. Mileage? Don't ask.
