Rare 427 FE engine......
Is there any interest in an original all aluminium 427 from either 67-68. I spoke to Lee Holman last week about it and he has verified that the engine I acquired when my grandpa past away is a true all aluminium 427 FE and that H-M built the blocks for Shelby. I have photos and part numbers engine is complete and according to Lee Holman super rare.

I was unaware of the fact that H&M had a foundry or production machining centers capable of producing a finish machined block. Does anyone have some photos or other evidence of these capabilities at H&M?

The flip top cobra, csx2196, had an experimental all aluminum 390 FE engine in it for Nassau Speed Week. Perhaps that engine could be mistaken for an aluminum 427 FE engine?

Were a few of these engines made for the GT40 program? My old memory isn't that great any more, but I thought I read something about Ford and Holman Moody cooperating on designing some aluminum block 427 FE engines for the GT40 program about that time? Possibly it was the 390 as described above...
Or am I hearing voices in my head again?

I am sure if it exists and in decent shape it would be a cash windfall. At least Pond block value... |

I remember hearing that with some of those vintage aluminum engine parts, the decks were thin, can't remember whether they were the heads or the block. Also, I believe the early blocks were only ?4.05 bore (390 ci, not the 4.23 bore. as I think technology wouldn;t allow that big of a bore at that time)

Vintage aluminum blocks
Ford made an alum 390ci and alum 427 blocks, I shouldn't have been excessive in my dialog previously

That engine blew up while they were leading the field. It was an aluminum NASCAR engine that they decided to try.
