Which brake set up does the car have?
Which coil over shocks?

Any additional pictures?

Thanks in advance

Beautiful ERA GT40.

I'd speculate that this ERA being built in 2002 may pre-date the SB100/SPCNS registration process and was registered as a 1965 Ford GT40, which, of course it isn't.

The State of CA may never catch up with this car, but if a CA buyer is interested, any CA buyer should probably re-register it via the correct SB100/SPCNS rules. I remember "Morgester", the Assistant AG of CA mentioning an amnesty program many years ago for cars such as these.

Hey Bill,

I've noticed you often ask these sorts of questions, but I can't really comprehend why. None of these items seems deal breakering to me.

I mean if you were in the market for such a kit, the fact that they are sold few and far between, would result in me pushing for a deal , even if it had no brakes and no shocks. These items are "consumables" and easily resolved. Hell even I can change shocks and brakes. I'd have thought you'd be infinitely more experienced at that than I.

What am I missing?

Ps. Beautiful car. I'd take it ahead of an SPF40, even if the price was inflated.
Good luck with the sale.

Just for the record, this ERA GT40 has been for sale on the GT40s Forum since April 2016. Originally priced at $125,000. Also, has been listed on BaT (Bring A Trailer) and eBay. More pics here:

In general, I think, there's just a very limited market for these GT40s and kit car replicas in general. They're loud and smelly and very mechanical. I'm sure others share the same opinion as me, that GT40s are a tight fit and require some gymnastics to ingress/egress and are claustrophobic. Additionally, there's no friggin' windows! And they're $100,000 +/- cars. Even with the A/C on full blast, when the temps get above 90 degrees, you're going to be hot and sweaty mess. That's why the ring holes in the seats. :)

So, unless you find that one (or a couple) right buyer(s) just salivating for one, it usually takes a few months and the price must come down.

Do you remember that person who registered here a few years ago and basically said "I have cash right now. Sell me your GT40 for $70,000 (or something like that) and you'll have a quick and painless transaction." He did find someone to sell him a GT40 (not an SPF or ERA) for around whatever amount he was offering. I don't think he ever posted again. Came here in a hurry and left even quicker.

Point is, if you don't have a few months to sell your car, then price it accordingly, er, keep your ego in check.

I had a GTD GT40 back in 2003 and the A/C was not good enough for the Texas summers as the condenser was back by the engine. My CAV is much different with the condenser up front by the radiator and I had the car out last Saturday afternoon and it was 98 out and I had to turn in down the A/C to low as my daughter was freezing. My car does not get hot inside at all as the bulk head is insulated very well and it has a kick ass 408 stroker in it.....Not sure how ERA GT40s are setup or where they put their condensers.......

Few more pics of this ERA GT40 over on GT40s.com where it has been for sale. That ad states it is titled in CA as 1965 Ford GT40.

I like to get as much information on the cars for sale as I can, especially when they are posted in the discussion forums. In the process, it also helps the seller (if I am not the buyer) as the more information and details laid out in the first place, the better chance they have of enticing a potential buyer to take the next step towards a potential purchase. So, in essence, you can say I'm assisting the seller by asking for a better detailed description of the car(s) in question.

Great looking GT40! Love the rear wide flares and stance of the car.

bmwdb10 07-07-2016 07:25 AM

Beautiful car.... If it were right drive I would have pursued it and put my CAV up for sale.

Bill's questions and the anticipated answers are key questions in the sales/purchase process for a GT40 as typical ERA GTs use over the counter OEM calipers.

bmwdb10 07-07-2016 07:28 AM

Oh... and I would have to agree with Gary! My A/C works great!!
