" Ford Builds a Ferrari-Beater " The time line mentioned is March 1999-Project launched to resurrect the GT40 to March 2004-Regular GT production commences at Ford's Wixom Michigan assembly plant. Excellent article on the background of how the project started and the various steps in development and engineering of the GT40. As an example, ..." to keep the project quiet, I ( Neil Ressler, senior technical adviser on the GT project ) suggested naming it something crazy- like Petunia- because no one hearing the name would guess its true nature, the name stuck " ........well worth reading |
