I have also heard that Jimmy Price is making a 5 speed transmission instead of a T44 for his gt40 clone.

Its been a few months now. Any news on the progress of the Superformance GT-40? They've been pretty quiet about it.

I talked to several Superformance dealers in Monterey during the Monterey Historic Races a couple of weeks ago. Each of them said that we, the enthusiasts, know far more about the GT40 project than they do, and that they're being kept completely in the dark by Superformance.

They are offering a Mk I & Mk II body styles and they both run small blocks. Apparently you may also choose a strictly race oriented car (could be street legal) that is actually FIA certified complete with roll cage, little to no sound deadening, etc. We are privileged to have #001 coming to our local dealership hopefully by years end - we'll see.

Why would you run a small block in a MKII GT40................?

The car won't be available in March as originally thought. I talked to the dealer today about ETA. They are still finalizing the details, and no delivery date yet. It was my understanding that they will also be selling body panels for the originals.

I have a SPF GT40 on order. I placed the order in a month ago and expect delivery this year. They are starting out with MKII. First batch is supposed to start in May with deliveries starting about 100 days after I am told.

I can't wait.

Mike, what is the price point? Is it finished to the same level as the Cobra rlloer?

I just ordered a SPF Coupe on Saturday from Hillbank. He said the GT40 roller is $1000 less than the coupe, which would put it at $65,300. The owner said he has six on order right now...

Hi Doug

Is it still Lance and Dennis at Hillbank?

I had the opportunity to meet the guys and found them both gentlemen and good businessmen.

I know you will enjoy your Coupe.

Cheers

Bernie

Hi Bernie,
It is Lance and his wife Deborah at Hillbank. If Dennis is there, I didn't get the opportunity to meet him. Lance is a kick, though. Let me drive his metallic gray coupe. Can't wait to get my own! One of the GT40s Lance has on order is for himself. Can't wait to see one in person. I'm sure it will be a nice car!

I am in the OC and I oredred my GT40 from Lance and Deborah at Hillbank as they are close to my office. Mine was #4 from them (two going to Bakersfield - one person, and one going to Arizona).

Got to meet Peter Brock there when putting my deposit down. Talked to him a little bit.

I am looking a the Rousch 402 - what do you think of this one?

For colors I am looking at the Indigo Blue with Viper Steel Gray stripes...not the trasitional 1966 LeMans colors, but pretty nice to look at I think.

Regards,
Mike

Why don't they have the GT40 advertised on their web site yet? you'd think they'd be playing that up if they're in production with them now.

Coupedup

Hi Doug,

Yes spoke with Dennis who was out the back and he showed me around.

Lance arrived a few minutes later and we had a good talk about the Daytona Coupe that was just down the road. He took me down to have a look at the coupe.

When you see Lance remind him about the crazy Aussie who followed him home.

Lance offered to show me the Coupe and he left after talking with the gang at Hillbank. Well he got on the phone in his 4 wheel drive and forgot he was heading to the factory to show me the coupe.....

After racing along freeways, side roads and into a gate community we ended up at his house. What a surprise when he realised I had managed to keep up...

Had a real laugh about that and then headed back to the factory to see the coupe. None of the guys at the factory were surprised that he took off and forgot about me following him...

Hell once he gets on the phone that's it they said.

All in fun. he took the time to really show me around knowing that I was not going to be a customer...

Cheers

Bernie
