Color - I would go with pale blue with orange stripes, known as the Gulf colors. This scheme suited the GT40, (and Cobras - such as mine). I would guess you can have only a dark blue tho - and probably white stripes? You would think that paying that much you could have whatever you liked.

Rumor has it MSRP around 130K, but I would not consider that firm. Could well be closer to 150K.

Silly to pay double the MSRP? Maybe, maybe not! You have to consider the possibility these cars will NEVER depreciate at all. With such a limited run it would not surprise me.

Looks like Shelby Series 1 can be bought in the mid 60's low 70's. Now THATS depreciation!

Brings back memories of the ZR-1's from 15 years ago that were going for $100,000........... I saw one on E-Bay the other day with very low miles for about $25,000.

Many thanks to you well to do guys for allowing the rest of us to drive really cool cars..........even if we have to wait a few years to get them .

"You work for Ford dealer and don't have MSRP??? Ford has made multiple announcements publicy... "

Could you point me to one of them?

I have seen many places report figures, but never anything official from Ford. The order guide does not have prices in it and the official site at Ford says "The final MSRP won't be released until just before the car goes on sale. We are forecasting final MSRP to be under $150,000."

Bevan, the only blue available is dark, "Midnight Blue Clearcoat Metallic." The optional stripe with that color is white.

They are selling above sticker. I have a family member that is a salesman for Ford. They sold one for 200K.

Dealer bidding war starts for Ford GT

By Eric Mayne / The Detroit News

LOS ANGELES — Chalk up another Ford Motor Co. victory over Ferrari.

When Ford’s 500-hp GT supercar arrives in dealer showrooms next summer, its base sticker price will be $139,995 — about $14,000 less than the Ferrari 360 Modena against which the Ford two-seater was benchmarked.

The automaker’s 3,850 dealers are waiting — many with orders in hand — to see who will get one of the 3,500 units Ford plans to build before the GT goes out of production in 2005.

Ford will decide which dealers will be allowed to sell the car by the end of the first quarter, said Martin Collins, Ford division general marketing manager.

“We have dealers who have taken deposits of more than $10,000 from customers, and they don’t know if they’re going to get one,” Collins said.

There are three ways a dealer can acquire a GT, Collins said: recording high overall sales volumes, qualifying for a “president’s award” for superior customer service and winning a lottery.

About 700 prospective buyers have bypassed Ford dealers and appealed directly to company executives, including Chairman and CEO Bill Ford Jr.

The Ford GT is a road-ready remake of the Ford GT40 race cars that conquered Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France in 1960s.

Ford will build the GT at its plant in Wixom, where the Ford Thunderbird and Lincoln LS and Town Car are produced.

Car and Driver tested it against the 360 Stradale. A lighter, more powerful 360 than the Modena. The only spoiler I see here is the Motortrend article comparing the Viper.

No matter what, it will be a very exclusive car for a while. David, I hope you aren't the kind that likes to leave them in the garage to look at. (You don't strike me as one of those).

Thanks, Bill, but that isn't a Ford anouncement. The reporter doesn't even say where he got his figure. I think he is very close on the price. He might even get lucky and hit the number, but Ford has not released pricing.

That reporter gets paid to write and you don't know me from Adam, but that 3,500 cars in 2005 production is not even in the same ball park and makes the entire article very suspect.

Not to mention he says the GT will go out of production in 2005. I don't think much time or care went into the artcicle.

See http://media.ford.com/newsroom/relea...?release=13809 for Ford's target production. They now expect to fall short of even that number in the first year.

All the best,

Keith

last week when the dealer called to confirm extras they were few indeed, raido upgrade, weel froged vs cast (?) color, and painted vs sticker rocker "detail".. and the color of the brakes. red,gun metaland black.
what I picked was flame red went with the raido upgrade, and painted stripes and rocker detail, and the red brakes.
I dont think they we be able to produce the gt but for a few years due to a bumper law, and then use the factory for the new shelby cobra, that uses the so same parts,
and yes I will drive the car like mad.
be good dmk

Will keep an eye out for the final price. The price you are prepared to pay. I guess it will be well above the Recom. Price..

And I thought the replica GT40 business was in real trouble when Ford made the announcement to go a GT40 - sorry GT.

Cheers

Bernie
