Gt40
GT40 talk.
Well here is photo. I could talk all day it's a CAV GT40 with ZF transmission and 392 Ford Racing engine - and it is just great.
It draws crowds just like the Cobras.

Boy are you right John. The GT's draw crowds like bees to honey.
Just like these two Roaring Forties do.

That looks great John!
I look forward to seeing it soon - I got my CAV just a few days ago and I have been spending my evenings exploring it - I just love that monocoque.....CAV really did a nice job.
Turk and I may come up for the BACC breakfast this weekend - will you be there?

Hi Bernie,
Well you will have to ask the owner about that . I personally don't care for the Gulf color scheme. It's to close to the BoZo theme to suit me but hey, what ever trips your trigger.
Pat congrats on your purchase of tha GT40. You will have a ball with it. I suspect you will use it more than the Cobra.
John, the colors on your GT are very nice. it show the lines of the car well.

Not to hijack this thread again, but I am looking for a company who makes the 5" taillights for the GT-40's. Can be solid red or the correct euro-style amber-over-red. If anybody knows where I can get 'em, please let me know.
Thanks,
Russ

Guardsman blue - pure white stripes. Yellow fender stripe
Hey Hersh,
Just had a look at the Cobra. You would not recognise it as the same car. Some undercoat/repair and paint sure makes a difference.
About to ring you.
Cheers
Bernie

BT Snake - You said "I personally don't care for the Gulf color scheme. It's to close to the BoZo theme to suit me but hey, what ever trips your trigger."
Fair enough - everyone has their own taste, I just wondered what the BoZo theme is? I ask as my car is in these colours.

Well I really like the Gulf combo or colours.
Hey Bevan
Do you want his address?
Better still wait till I get there, I'd like to watch.
Think Hersh, was having a go at me as I had considered doing something different with my car. Light blue with orange stripes.
My gallery will enlighten you to the reference to a clown (red haired, red and yellow suit)
Then again he may not have been having a go at me!!!
Yes, I sure like the Gulf colours and offered to drive it next year over to the DVSF in Ohio.
Cheers
Bernie

Gulf colours were a preference of mine
Bevan - its good to hi - jack the GT40 site
Just took a look at your gallery there. Good to see you are out in front of the those Holdens and Porsches.
Yes that's the colours ( your car ) I was thinking about. It was suggested that I do my car red and run yellow stripes down it.
A certain Aussie ( ex Englishman ) who builds other cars was joking with me - I think.
Went for Guardsman Blue and pure white with yellow over guard i.d stripe. Will 'Post' pictures when finished.
Cheers
Bernie

Hi BT Snake
You would'nt have any more pictures of the silver and black striped GT40 that is in the secound post?
I am on the verge of buying a gt40 to sit beside my cobra and all I need is a small push and that that silver gt40 looked mighty fine.
Thanks Cobra.au

Check Hershals gallery out as it's his car. He has about five pages of the car through the entire build. Check it out..
I have a few photos of the car here at home and can send them to you. I took them when at the 'Run N Gun' in Missouiri with Rob from "Roarin 40's and Hershal was there on the track etc..
About three months ago ( on our news stands ) there was a two or three page article on the car in 'Kit Car Magazine. It will be the USA October or November edition from last year.
Ring me if you want some photos after checking the 'forum gallery'. I will look to see if I still have the edition of Kit Car Magazine withe hershals car in it.

Thanks Bernie, that makes sense, thought I had missed something there.
I am not surprised some people dont like the gulf colours, they are a bit bizarre really, but they have grown on me while I have owned the car, and now that the car has a bit of race history in NZ it seems wrong somehow to change it. .
I was considering going to the 'other' gulf colours which are a very dark blue and with the same orange stripes (as seen on some GT40s).
Maybe I should borrow your clown suit, and put oval wheels on my car?

I may be wrong and letting Hershal off the hook easily. He may have been having a go at both of us.
Yes have see that colour on a GT40 and it looked good. The suit is worn by professional registered actors with only three in Australia able to wear it. Its a fulltime job for them, doing both public appearance and adds etc.
Take care.
