AS of 5/31, www.FordGTprices.com reports 386 sold and 796 in the hands of dealers looking for more immediate gratification suckers who will pay way, way over list. When the '06 GT's come out in a few months and when the Z06 comes out, the GT's should be available for list or less.

On the "Your emails" page of www.FordGTprices.com there's a new letter from a dealer who says there are fewer cars that that, but the reply pretty much explains the facts.

Also, at the bottom of that page there are PDFs of the recall and TSBs for the Ford GT.

I read in one of the emails about a 'Ford dealer in Dallas' that has stored 4-----Sam Pack? I was driving by one of his local dealerships last Sat and they had part of the service road blocked by a transporter unloading 4 red GT's. I don't know if ALL were for Pack, but the line in the email got me to thinking. I know Sam is an astute Cobra guy..I wonder what his price was on a GT!

If you saw "Car Crazy" last nite, you'd get an idea of how many Ford is capable of making in a hurry. Robotic welding, high volume painting (can paint 1/2 dozen at a time). Stacks of finished bodies and body parts. Lots of mass production capability, but also very expensive production - every 47th frame is destroyed after its complete just to study the welds.

Very "inventive" redesign of the car's sides as well so that the windows can be rolled down in the new GT. A finished car was side by side with an original and looked to be (front end) the same height although I thought I read the new GT had to be raised somewhat to meet Federal "safety" standards.

A few dealers put Vipers in storage in 1992, thinking the low serial numbers would be the most valuable (wrong!) and somehow the car was so "collectible" it would defy the laws of economics, and the values would somehow miraculously RISE even as the supply increased (wrong!).

Fords sales figures are public, and through May only 386 have been sold (due partially to the suspension recall, but mostly because many dealer thinking they can still sell the cars for $250K+), and Ford's plan is to make 3000 to 4500 total.

That means prices will continue to drop, and the cars will probably be at MSRP in a month.

Can't see Ford limiting production to fewer than 10,000. Just the painting facility they built for the GTs cost $20 million And the robotic welding system designed strickly for this car must have cost even more. Certainly there is a limited market but they have the capability to build many times 3000 just in a single year and as long as each one built produces a profit while the rest of the company is losing money...............

The Company announced that they will make 4500. I saw a press release later that quoted 3000.

I think they will hold production to 3000-4500 to protect the owners of the GT. The GT will not meet the new federal regulations after the 2006 model year.

The rumor mill has them building the Shelby GR-1 at this plant after the GT production is complete. Some are speculating that the GR-1 concave tail was inspired by the Cobra Daytona Coupe. The GR-1 may have the V-10. George Saridakis designed the GR-1 at the Ford California studio.

I suspect that the GR-1 will be replaced by another supercar. It is part of Ford's image-car program. It keeps the gearheads watching threads like this. It's free marketing at it's finest.

Some dealers seem to be getting it, there's a Ford GT on ebay at MSRP, with no reserve, see http://www.fordgtprices.com/pages/8/index.htm

Did they ever resolve the Cylinder Head or Cam problems on the GT engines??

Can you imagine spending that amount of money and having the local dealership techs tearing into your engine under recall???

I thought that was resolved before actual production?

The front suspension and rear main seal was repaired by the factory from what I read.

It depends. I know some excellent tech guys at the local delearships (I race with them). I also am aware of some bad ones.

The good ones I know can make a pushrod engine run for hours at 7500 rpm. They know the exact thousands of an inch required to make 'em hum. They know the proper oiling pressures/volumnes/etc. The have NASCAR backgrounds and mechanical engineering degrees. Yea, I'd trust 'em.

The others? I wouldn't let 'em change my oil.

Watch for a $10K price increase on the GT.

I was at a Ford dealership this morning looking at the new F-250s and as I walked in the showroom I saw a blue GT sitting there so went straight to it and began looking it over,sweeetttttttt............

the sales manager walks over and I ask a couple of questions about the car,the owner has 5 or 6 dealerships in Louisiana and they were allotted one GT but somehow ended up with 2.........both are still UNSOLD........

This one is blue with NO stripes and stickered at about 156k, I asked the for the sales price and the guy told me nothing under 225k would be considered,he also said they turned down 180k YESTERDAY........ when he saw my eyebrows raise he pointed out this one was destined to be a very special COLLECTOR CAR........... MSRP sheet shows white painted stripes as a $5,300.00 option, but as he pointed out IT HAS NO STRIPES................not sure if the window sticker was a mis-print or the factory screwed up the order and did not paint the stipes, but either way the salesman said that made it "a collector"............I thought $5300.00 for 2 white stipes to be a "little pricey"............

Not sure how long it's been there, but I know it's been there for at least 2 months..........wonder how long it will be there before being sold???????

BTW: this dealership is also a Saleen dealer and they sell quite a few Saleens, they only have 2 of the 05 Mustangs on the lot and he told me they are getting full MSRP and sell them as fast as they can unload them off the transporter.........

I'll check on the GT later on and see what's the story with it,he asked if I was interested,I said very interested in it and would love to own it but just a "little short" on funds, like 200k short, he got a good laugh out of that...................

No CSX's, but one Saleen and one 50th anniversary T-Bird, 3 or 4 King Ranch's.............actually their inventory was quite "thin" from normal,he said since the employee discount deal they were moving quite a few vehicles..........

They did not have what I wanted (color/equipment) but he located one at another dealership in the state, he just called me to tell me he could have it there in a couple of days, but I would have to pay the $650.00 transport fee to get it there!!!!!!!!! I told him since I could be anywhere in the state in 3 hours,90% of the state in 2 hours or less,I would go get it for nothing, NO DEAL he said, they had to have in tranferred by THEIR people, boy I wish I knew which dealer has the truck.........

Default Ford GT prices

The "problem" with most Ford GT dealers who have cars in stock is that they are not in touch with their own market. They believe that GTs are going to sell for more than 200K+. Dream on guys. The www.fordgtprices.com website has the pricing reality for all who do their due diligence. Current pricing is less than 170K and dropping fast. This is a buyer's market. If you REALLY want one just put a realistic offer (with the website addess included) on the general manager's desk and go home and wait. They'll call you. Badger

Badger;

I agree 100%, the offer may to them yesterday is a standing offer from what the salesman alluded to,and they may (probably) will have to take the guy up on the offer before it's over..........I know of another dealer in the southern part of the state in a very large city that has been sitting on a GT longer than this dealer.................

Buyers market and should only get better for the buyer........

David,
You may find "your" truck my getting on the official Ford site and looking for the vehicle via "search" query. May work.

Bret;

I gave it a try,no soap, actually I have the print outs on four trucks that I would take anyone of them tomorrow,I just do not feel the $650.00 "delivery fee" within the state is fair.............other than going down the list of Ford dealers in the state (quite a few) and calling them I have no idea how to find any of these trucks.........I did call three "local" ones to see what they had on the lot and none had what I wanted..............

Waiting for one more dealer to get back to me with a truck/quote.....

update: another dealer has "located" the same truck as the first dealer and told me he WOULD NOT charge me anything to transfer to his lot, looks like I may have a new F-250 SD by the end of the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone interested in a super clean 95 F-150 x-cab 4x4??????? ,they are not real interested in talking trade-in..........

David

Just going through the latest Unique Car and a second hand 2002 Ford Lightning truck is for sale at $85,000 Australian.

Now that's about $65,000 US. Not a bad mark up when I think about the $20,500 low mile unit I saw in Az.

The high price of the GT may encourage more people to re vert back to the kits.....just imagine what they would want for one over here, if it managed to get here..
