Knockoff wheel safety "clips"
Does anyone know a source for knockoff safety "clips" or "hairpins".
I've seen them on sport racers, Porsches, etc. but can't seem to find a source to go to for them. I'm specifically looking for the type that go through the hub and the ends protrude outward through the hub and then ends prevent the knockoff or wheel nut from coming off.
Anyone?
Thanks!
Jim

Check the Morris build thread of KMP259 on www.kmsac.com I think that discussion came up in there before he went to a single nut in place of the knock off.

I lost one - had one made up by a custom car shop - it's apparently not that hard to re-create - I've never seen them for sale as very few cars need them - I ended up with the original mag wheels - it's just brutal to keep them clean but when they are - WOW!

Halibrand was marketing them a few years ago too. I have also seen something very similar to this in a Farm Impliment store. They use something like this and call it a hitch pin.

I did a search on KMP259 and was unable to discover any discussion of "nuts", etc.
There has to be a source out there somewhere for these safety "hairpins".

Maybe it was in the KMP259 thread on the Gashole site before it moved over to the Kirkham site.

I'm confused as usual. Are you talking about cotter pins? If so go to ACE or any fastener supplier. We used them on center lock rims on our race cars.

Pins
Why is your concern, your cars can not be push in and out off the trailer fast enough to worry about wheels coming off. And in the words of Fran Kress you only need a single tread

Try the Indy car builders, such as Panoz, Lola, Riley-Scott, etc.

Jim,
I got a bunch of them somewhere, I'll take a look. I bought them from Halibrand a few years back. I may have 8 or 10 of them.

Since Jim was looking for the pins first, I will give him first crack.
After that, chronologically, I recieved an email first from Morris and then this post from Ken.
So if you gentlemen don't mind, let's see what Jim wants to do.
I'd like to get $25 if possible for the lot.
I hope that's fair.
NOTE- I have 2 clips like the one on the left and 11 clips like whats on the right.
JM

The one on the right is exactly what I bought from Halibrand a few years back. A warning is in order here: There is much trauma associated with drilling holes in expensive pin drive adaptors. I had to Let mine sit on the shelf for about 5 years before I could bring myself to install them.....
I drove the car for the first time yesterday, and I'm happy to report that none of the wheels fell off!

Hub pins
I bought 4 of the ones on the right from Halibrand last year and they fit perfectly on my hubs which were already drilled for them. The previous owner had just stuck aluminum rod through the holes and bent it over on both sides. Crude!
I'll take the two on the left, they look pretty sexy. How much do you want for them?
