Default Anyone else having trouble with the Holley blue gaskets?

I keep having to replace mine each time I open it up, or every other time. They seem to leave little blue bits behind. Very, very tiny, like blue dust, but big enough to notice. When I open a new package, I have to "clean" them off. They are very "fiberous".

Anyone else notice this? is there a better alternative brand to use?

Been using them for years and years and have never had any problems, after a number of "takedowns" they will shows signs of breaking down, but I've had some last 10 years....
Will not use anything else on my carbs.....

Maybe your set had been on the shelf too long?????????

It's possible, but they're from Summit Racing and they turn over their stock. Also, this is not 3 different sets so far. I just ordered another. . . . we'll see.

I agree 100% with David. I have had the exact same experiences with them.

i came across a recommendation somewhere to put chapstick on the gaskets and it is supposed to help them not stick.

Dave Braswell here in Tucson has gaskets which are graphite imprenated. They have a silver appearance. We use them on the race car and they don't stick or leave residue behind. With O2 sensors in every pipe, the carbs are apart alot. Phone is 520-579-9177. If they answer as POW engineering, don't hang up. POW is what Dave calls the business.

I gave up on the Holley brand of gaskets. The last time, I went on Ebay and bought AED brand. I think I've had the float bowls off a dozen times and I am still using the same gasket.
