1965 289 Holley List number
Hi,
I am working for a company that is currently restoring 6 original Cobra's (3 427's, 3 289's). We recently purchased a 1965 with a 289. The vehicle came equipped with 2 four barrels which was not what was originally installed on this vehicle. The car came with a 4 barrel manifold and what was *supposed* to be the original carburetor. It was not, it was simply a Holley 600 CFM, manual choke, vacuum secondary. I am looking for the original Holley part number for the carburetor for these vehicles. I am having trouble finding a listing for the part number. The only information I can find is for Shelby GT350's. Does anyone know what the Holley list # would be or if the GT350's used the same carburetor. Thank you, Scott Tucker |
I believe it was a 3259-1, was used on a High rise Cobra Manifold (not sure if small or large letters)
There was a 2x4 manifold that utilized Carter AFB's too, but it flowed little more than the 1 Holley 4 BBl. |
That's what I thought but I want to be sure that was the right number before I order one. Do you know what the difference between the 3259 and 3259-1 was? I understand the -1 indicates it's a revision but I don't know what the revision is.
The 2 x 4 manifold we have has the AFB's. I don't know if they are the correct parts numbers though. Thank you for your quick response! -Scott |
Scott,
I have an original dual quad manifold/AFB set up I'm trying to sell, see my ad. You may not want to buy it, but it has the serial number and other details. http://www.clubcobra.com/classifieds...uct=3202&cat=4 Gary |
Thanks Gary. We actually have the 4 barrel manifold and the carbs. I haven't checked the carb numbers on the AFB's because we want to go back to the original configuration since this car will be fully restored. We aren't selling it because my boss keeps buying more and more original Cobra's and we may need them.
