Hurricane Kit for sale on E-Bay

There is a Hurricane kit for sale in California listed on E-bay.
Looks like a great deal, set up for w351, has IRS, alum. firewall etc.

Good deal for someone in AZ or California, save on shipping etc. :D

Wbulk 02-28-2011 05:19 AM

I sent the guy an email with some questions. I was wondering if it was from the new Hurricane Co. or the old one that went out of business. I understand the new exhaust has flanges but this one doesn't. The new inside tubs have the indentations for the seats to fit better.

LMH 02-28-2011 06:37 AM

It looks like it's one from the original company judging by the footboxes. Car has lots of options and looks to be complete. Would be a good build for someone.

Why does it matter if its an old one or a new one....it's a HURRICANE......
if i had the extra bucks i would be mine......

marps 02-28-2011 02:27 PM

That definitely looks like one of the Lee's Summit cars. That is a heak of a deal at its current price. It looks like all of the pieces are there in the boxes to finish the car. I know what parts are shipped in those boxes and there are a LOT of parts in there.

LMH 02-28-2011 02:33 PM

Mike!!!
Good to hear from you! Don't mean to hijack Bill's thread but how are things?

Hey Larry. I have been good, thanks for asking. I lurk on club cobra pretty frequently to see what's new. Just thought I would chime in on the eBay auction for the Hurricane. Someone will get a sweet deal with that car. I was trying to recognize the seller but the name doesn't look familiar. One of these days I will have to build one of these for myself. They look like a lot of fun :)

LMH 02-28-2011 05:32 PM

Excellent! You should bid on the one on eBay. It looks like it may be a good deal.

Likewise Mike, nice hearing from you. Glad you're doing well.
This car is HM 1091 and he's got some nice options - Wilwoods, powder coated frame and IRS.
Mike, how are you coming with HM 1100, or is in the same stage as this one?
Matt

marps 03-01-2011 07:57 AM

HM1100 is still sitting. One of these days I will get a chance to bring it to life.

madmaxx 03-02-2011 05:13 AM

Looks like it went for $15K, outfitted with a KC 408 should complete this car for about $34K. Not bad but alot of work inbetween 15 and 33K, it appears you are still doing it for the love of labor with all the sweet used ones out there for under $40K

Beamo 03-13-2011 06:15 PM

Regarding Love of Labor

We excited at the opportunity to build our second cobra HM1091. Yes, you are correct there are a lot of sweet cobra's out there for sell. We want to be able pick the color, motor, transmission, wheels, etc ourselves. As far as we are concern, part of the love of owning a cobra is turning the wrenches, breaking the knuckles and having friends helping you and the people you meet on the way. The reward is the pictures and the drives and knowing you put it together yourself. For all those who build your own car, we toast you and we hope to meet up one day. The car is already at Jeff Miller Custom Painting Temecula, CA and we will post pictures as the build progess's.

You should join the owner's forum at hurricane-motorsports.com. Every detail you will encounter in building your Hurricane has been covered there.

Beamo, I am not sure from the way you wrote your post if you were the buyer on the Hurricane that sold on ebay for the 15K. If you were let me tell you an interesting story about that day. I have a Cobra now that I am building and am about 3/4 the way done with it. When I saw that car I researched it and decided I was going to attempt to buy it. The Hurricanes are good cars and I wanted one. I had been watching the auction in the afternoon and decided to bid that last night considerably higher than the 15K that the auction was at.

About 40 minutes before the end of the auction I came down to the computer and tried to get on to the internet. My wife had just used it 30 minutes prior but it had picked up a bug. No matter what I had tried for the next 40 or so minutes I was unable to fix it. My wife who believes there is a reason for everything said, "maybe you just weren't supposed to have it." I went to bed very, very, frustrated. About 3:00 am I woke up and came down to the computer. What was in my mind was if I could fix it now, then me not getting the car was what was supposed to be. I was able to fix it about 30 minutes. So Beamo, If you got the car It would appear you were supposed to have that car! Good luck and keep us posted with pictures as the project progresses.

Hurricane Cobra

Wayne,

You are correct I am the one who purchased the car. Keep telling me that I am the one that is supposed to have it. I already have a B & B cobra that I built in 93. I have been questioning myself why other than the love of a cobra. My little lady keeps telling me I deserve two and it is excited to help build her first cobra. I promise to post pictures as it comes along.

Thanks and take care,
Mike

Good luck and have fun...keep us posted.

For sale again? What up?

Ebay item number 270727264156

MFE III 03-30-2011 05:18 PM

Interesting. Bumped the price up by $4500 and is including a paint job. $4500 for a Jeff Miller paint job is a good deal and a Hurricane kit for $15,000 is a steal!
