Wheel Size and Information

All,

I'm looking for information on what the backspacing or offset would be on wheels for the HM 427 car. What are our widest options that fit? I'm looking for a 17" wheel and looking to fit the most rubber possible (inside the fenders) on the rear. I was looking at 17x10.5 in back and 17x9's in the front. However, does anyone know the proper backspacing or offset for those to fit properly? They seem to come in an offset of +27mm with a 6.8inch backspacing for the 17x10.5's and a 24mm offset with a 5.95inch backspacing for the 17x9's.

I'm wanting to put 315's in back and 255's in front. I know this can be done on the HM car but I don't recall if I ever asked Mike, Rich or anyone else what the proper measurements would be. I assume I can measure once I get the car. But I was thinking ahead, trying to put the cart before the horse.

ryan the number you should be looking for 3 1/2But double check with mike .

Ryan check out my gallary I have had nittos on the car but they did not work out for me. only 3000 miles on them and had a blow out on the right rear. My bad I had them on a open track event and only went 3 laps when the tire whent away.
The problem with the 315/35/17s is not many manufactures of tires in that size. I bit the bullet and went with the G-Force KDs for a better tire. Had I did that in the beginning I would not have had to do fiberglass repair and paint now.
Great handling for sure just not a big selection of manufactures to choose from.

I have 17x9.5's in front and 17x11" in back. Backspacing is 5.5" but I drive a contemporary. Phil Schmidt at PS Engineering did the wheels. He builds a great wheel.

I'm not sure where you are looking for tires Tryce. It's true value based 275 and 315's are limited but There are far more in those sizes than there are in 15" rubber. www.tirerack.com

Ryan,
We are running 9.5" wheels on the back with a 3.5" back space. If you go with the 10.5" wheels in the rear you should run a 4.5" back space to end up in the right spot. On the front we are running 7.5" wheels with a 3.5" back space. If you go with a 9.5" wheel in the front you will need a backspace of 5.5" to get the wheels where you want them. Hope this helps.

Are you saying that the Nitto 555 are not ment for racing? There are 4 different types of 555's. Which did you have? Why do you think it blew out? Just wanted to make sure before I go nuts driving my cobra.
