I for one hope the kit remains. I would love to purchase a kit. What I really want is a good complete kit that has the original lines that I can build myself in my garage. The Hurricane kit fit that bill completely. The only reason I haven't ordered is I don't have the finances right now. I do not want to get started before I have all the finances in order and be forced to sell before I can finish.
I am sure that Hurricane as a company will do what they feel is best for the company to survive. Here is to hoping that includes offering kits.

It's happened here in Canada. If you want a Cobra good luck unless it says "Made In Canada"

The economy is taking a huge hit right now. Some see it more than others.. If a company is going to survive then they need to rethink their model. I imagine we will see alot of kitcar companies closing soon. Let's hope hurricane can stay alive because I really like these guys alot.

Guys, I hope that NOBODY at hurricane gets upset about me posting this info, but I spoke with Mike yesterday via email and he said they're hoping to open the doors back up by the end of the month. Just be patient! I think it was good on hurricane to stop accepting orders while they were changing things up. This way they get everything in order before they start taking orders for the revised product and nobody gets upset about anything.

I am hoping that they continue to offer the kit …even if it is in the form of a pallet kit like Unique offers. My wife is on board now and our next step is to go to the bank and work out the financing. I’ll probably be ordering (from Factory Five or Hurricane) sometime in the next six months. I am waiting to hear what direction Hurricane is going before I make my final decision. If Hurricane can offer a pallet kit in the $20,000 - $22,000 range I’ll probably stay with them.
Time will tell.

Ok, this is just my speculation from past conversations but when they say roller... I don't think they are talking roller like SPF or BDR although they do... or did.. offer kits in that form right in the same range as BDR. I THINK... again speculation... that they are offering the "kit" with the stage 1 assembly option as their base model. This makes it so much easier for them to move around and ship and also MANY people, more than you'd think, order their kit this way.
Again... ALL SPECULATION!!! Time will tell! I just hope that all of you who wanted to order a car in kit for are not discouraged by hurricane possibly offering rollers only. A roller can be very basic and incomplete, totally different from SPF or BDR. There would still be plenty of work to do! haha

I am just guessing but I bet they will have exactly what you need when you're ready to order. Most businesses are capable of customizing an order. My guess with everything under the sun having price increases that Hurricane is probably re-assessing their cost of inventory and vendors. In a large corporation that can be a seamless operation but in a small operation this might be the best way to address the issue. I know they build a first rate car or cars (depending on whether they ever kick off the FIA).

Any Word
I was told we would hear something around the first of the month. I just hope the little bird that gave me a hint is wrong.

I E-mailed the boys at Hurricane yesterday to inquire where their at with regards to "their business evaluation". No response from Hurricane so far, but expect something from them soon.
Any news would help those interested in buying a Hurricane in the future. In addition, we owners would like to know if we still have a resourse for future business.
Anyway, I hope everything works out for the best for all those folks at Hurricane.

Move on?
Let's see: basically gone underground/incognito since Jan 1. Calls and emails not getting returned. Just a vague assurance that an update would be provided by March 1. Hmm....
Not trying to be negative for negativity's sake here folks, but seems to me it's time to move on. And I would LOVE to get proven wrong on this! But in a fickle market for high-end toys with plenty of other viable options out there, a company has to instill into its potential buying public a sense of confidence, a belief, a trust. I just don't see any of this happening. Shame, too. Looks like they have been making a nice product.

A complete explanation on what has been going on has been posted on the Hurricane web site. Unfortunately, it's only accessable to owners. I believe they want to keep current owners "in the loop". I don't think anything has been set in stone as of yet. I'm sure once things are settled, Rich will post it here for all to see.

Yeah, exactly. That just makes a ton of sense. And it sure would take a ton of time for them to make a post on this forum.

They have not been in total isolation either. I have had communication with Mike in the past month.
They're getting there, continue to be patient!
Also, Jason's Street roadster is BEAUTIFUL! It's also listed in the for sale section.

"Cat out of the Bag" For Sale
Hurricanes Motorsports is in the process of being sold, per Rich.
They will entertain any offers from interested persons.
Sorry late news, but Hurricane should have posted this sooner.

What happens in a situation like this if you are an owner and need a panel or component, are they generic where you can patch one together, I am sure this does not help resale value.

Well ... that answers that question :-( Any way, it is good to know what is going on. I just wish I could have been ready to get one sooner. I really liked what Hurricane offered. I am still about six months out, but I guess my tax rebate will be serving as a deposit for a FactoryFive now.

Contact Jay Nordstrom ,
Jay has one of the original Hurricane cars #3 or 4 if I am not mistaken. It is almost complete including a new crate 351 stroker and TKO 600. When I saw it a few weeks ago it still needed carpet and installing the side pipes. I believe Jay's price was $38,000.00.
