They definitely did! I know of at least 3 people that are/were ready to drop their deposits. But just made the call a couple weeks late before Hurricane stopped taking orders. Mike, Rich, Tamara, Jason, ALL the guys at hurricane are great! I don't have any complaints. If they opened back up, I would still buy from them when I get back to that stage. I just think they could have handled this situation a little better. My understanding is that they have only posted the for sale info on the owners part of the hurricane forum. That's great for those with access, but doesn't really say much for everyone outside that box. Ideally, I think a small note on their website would have been best for everyone.

Hopefully they'll get things sorted out and either sell or open back up. I'd like to see a hurricane coupe in the not so distant future!

I may have a turnkey, or turnkey minus up for sale. Since everything was sorted out early last summer, I've had the itch to build a 40. I've got a few other projects keeping me busy, so the itch is not to bad for now.

Got Milk! is pretty darn good, my vote also goes to the Burg.

I stand by my original rumor...Hurricane is for sale, but who really knows? Maybe I'm just "blowing smoke"?.

To All:

Just an update, as of 6:27pm yesterday, May 27, 2008, the sale of Hurricane to Joe Partain is no more. The deal has apparently fallen thru.

Hurricane's Production Facility in Lee's Summit has been closed, and the "hard assets" are in storage.

There is no word as to how support or pending sales, if any, will be handled.

This was according to a post on the Hurricane Owner's Forum by Mike Arps.

Regards,

Evan Smith
Owner, Hurricane chassis HM1103
Currently under construction.

I think you will find that Jay will go the extra mile to make sure the Hurricane Cobra is one of the finest kits available today. In speaking with Jay this morning he has informed me that he has six kits sold since the transfer of ownership and another handfull pending.
Operations are transitioning to Dallas as we blog.

Good luck Buddy!

Here's the info from Hurricane, as posted on their forum by Rich Burroughs:

Quote:
Mike and I are very pleased to announce a new owner of Hurricane Motorsports. Please join us in welcoming CRW Management of Mansfield, Texas new owner of Hurricane Motorsports. We are very excited about the future of Hurricane Motorsports with the new ownership. They will be able to bring the resources to the table to propel Hurricane Motorsports to new heights in the industry. I have included the official press release below.

-- PRESS RELEASE --

Dallas, Texas June 20, 2008: Hurricane Motorsports purchase has been completed and new owners will be relocating operation to a new location. CRW Management of Mansfield, Texas has purchased the complete operation of Hurricane Motorsports. New owners will begin the process of moving the complete operation to a 17,000 square foot facility in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday June 24, 2008. The Hurricane's new facility will house a complete Sales and Customer Support department as well as a large warehouse for operation to support production of up to 20 cars and kits per month. The new facility will include a showroom to display a complete car as well as chassis in various stages of completion.

Plans are to have new facility in production by September 2008. Prior to the release of the first complete kit, support for new customers and existing customers will be available through the Toll Free number (888) 946-4737. Customers will be able to continue using the forums on line or contact the office by email at sales@hurricane-motorsports.com.

Announcements will be forthcoming on the Grand opening and open house dates in the near future. Dates for these events will be posted on web site and other media sources.

Along with the purchase of company and the relocation, new owners announced they have appointed long time Cobra owner, driver and enthusiast Jay Nordstrom as President and Managing Partner. Jay will be overseeing the process of making sure all kits shipped will maintain true Cobra style and each kit will provide years of pleasure for owners. Nordstrom will oversee improvements to current products and to review and incorporate customer's suggestions into future production as well as manage daily operations.

Hurricane's new owners state that this purchase was planned to be a long term commitment to provide highest quality products to the replica market customers for years to come. New products and services including parts and apparel for Cobra owners will be available soon.
