He said they were selling it not closing the doors. If they sell it to another entity, I am sure it will be someone that will take what they have done and bring it to the next level.
Why would it hurt resale value?

I am waiting for the new owners (when there are some) to get it going again and buy another kit-roller-whatever.....

I certainly hope they are selling and not just closing the doors! I love my car and those guys (and gal) were great to deal with. It just strikes me as an unusual business strategy to stop taking orders, essentially shutting down and try to sell the business.
How many times have you seen a restaurant close with a sign "closed for renovations" ever open again?

the whole situation seems alittle strange. Mike, rich, jason and tamara are all great to do bussiness with they provide a great product with equally good service, If you had a problem they would accomadate you no questions asked.

I know in nov. they were back ordered at least 20 cars with more orders coming in I can understand tring to catch up but to not take any new orders ?

I would think that selling a bussiness with a confirmation of say 20 cars is more desirable then selling a bussiness with none but what do I know.

From the way I see it this was never mike or rich's primary bussiness more of a hobby turned big bussiness (and that most certainly takes the fun out of it)I always felt that they might try to sell it once they made a name for themselves but why not continue manufacturing and put the word out that you are looking to sell.

I wish all of the guys the best of luck

I think that if there are not any prospective buyers right away and you are going bankrupt, then it may be good business to stop taking orders. In the chance that no one does buy it, then you do not have any customers who have paid a deposit (or more) and now are out of their money and no product. Just a thought, but I would be angry at them for not saying anything and I lost my money. I can respect the decision to not sell any more to ensure that they do not have customers that are out of money. If at a later time they decide to get back into the business, then they do not have that hanging over their heads.

I HAD made a deposit(only $2500 of my initial 50%). My deposit was made back on Aug 16th, and the deal was $2500 to lock in the price because they were expecting an increase. Mike told me the $2500 was fine until April when I would pay the balance of my 50% and the car would be built and ready for delivery the first week in June. On January 7th I requested it back due to family reasons, I wouldn't be able to build my cobra right now. Mike told me it shouldn't be a problem since my car was not due to be completed until early June. It is now March 18th and I'm still waiting.... But I talked to Tamara on the 10th (and emailed Mike) and she said it should be in the mail within 2 weeks, that they had some other things to deal with first. I really hope the guys at hurricane come through for me. I have been very patient about this. I am remaining positive that Rich, Mike, and Tamara will follow through on their word. But I have to be honest, all this talk is starting to make me worry!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope your deposit is returned as the way the talk has been going they didn't seem to be the type to take someones money then not deliver.. or they would have been taking more orders.. any how best of luck.. I never order anything unless its available for immediately delivery, learned the hard way..

Thanks, I'm not putting Hurricane down at all! They have definately come through to this point. I am in Iraq so I told Mike I was in no hurry to have the deposit back because I have no use for it right now, but I didnt expect it to really take over 2 months. That was before all this bad news that had begun circulating. I have no reason to believe that they won't come through on thier word and that has been the major factor in me NEVER putting them down. I'm staying patient but it is starting to wear a little.

I thought the reason for a deposite was just that, if you cancel the order then you loose the deposite. If not why wpuld anyone request a deposite.

My situation was that I made the $2500 deposit to lock the price because Mike told me they were expecting an increase. Mike told me to make the rest of the deposit in April which is when they would begin building my car.

I saw a car Mike Burroughs was selling about a month ago. It was not on a Cobra site, it was on an exotic car site.

Mean anything? Hard to say. I was pretty stoked when I found their product at the start of my search for a kit, but that lasted less than a day after I read about their slowdown.

Sure is quiet from those folks, however.

Mike, Rich, and Jason are stand up guys, I know them personally. I can't speak from them personally but sometimes the deposits get used for buying essiental items needed for the build. I'm sure you will get your money back if they said that they would pay it. It probably isn't going to be returned right away, but when monies free up. I hope that we get to see you guy's (Hurricane) in London, sure won't be the same without them.

I thought that I had read that they were completing orders already made, but not accepting new orders. That is what I made that post in reference to. I hope you do get it back as well. I think it would be in their best interest to refund you in the long run.

After the past couple of years of research the Hurricane kit was high on my list. I was really looking forward to doing one of their kits. For me it seemed like the best value for the dollar. I hope they can regroup and come back better than ever and not fade into the sunset I wish them all the best. I guess time will tell. However, with all the advances with other manufactures I might have to revisit some of the others from my original list which consisted of Hurricane, Shell Valley / Midstates and Unique. Now you have FFR putting together a complete non-donor kit with all new parts, hmmmm eliminate the “perky butt” possibly. Now if they continue to utilize Dick Smith’s digitized famous #198 car for the avid owner I might have to reconsider them. There is no way I can swing one of the #198 commemorative models. After Contacting Dana at Shell Valley about the merger of Shell Valley and Midstates and learning about the updates and changes they made, there is another possibility from my original list. For now I’ll keep researching and trying to attend the London Shows. Who knows- some one has to win the raffle car.

Has anyone heard any updates on the situation with Hurricane? I see that this threads view count is over 6000, so it looks like a few people are interested.

I think it would be safe to say that no news is not good news. I think we can probably say BYE, BYE. It was great knowing you and thanks for the memories.

purple panther I see you are in Ohio, take a ride down to dynamic, they just had 12 chassis come in, it appears someone is buying them. If it is a 2 year old chassis it must because their prices are not competitive, with the internet today people can research and find the dealer willing to give the best deal and when it comes to 55K plus cars who cares if the difference between the dealer which is 25 miles from your house or 1500 miles
is 1500 in shipping. I know the local guy wanted 12% more for the identicle car in my instance and not willing to budge.
I have said it before, guys or girls buying 50K plus cobras are most likely recession proof.
