Default Ignition

Should my ignition box have power even though the key isn't even in the car? The reason I ask this is because my battery goes dead after is sits over night. Found out the ignition box is getting power all the time.

Thanks,

Don't know what box you have, but an MSD 6al has 2 power inputs, one from the ignition ckt, and one direct from batt. Could be component failure in box. Disconnect batt cables, measure resistance from positive cable to ground. should be "open", infinite res. If not, disconnect box main power wire (should be fused, remove fuse) and ck again. If res is now infinite, you've identified the culprit !

Or it could be something other than the ignition box..............

I see the pertronix A+ is wired hot to the batt also. Maybe something else, but anything wired direct to the batt is the most "likely suspect" !
