Default prelim dry sump pics in my gallery

finally put some pics in my gallery. these are mockup with most of the bracket work done. fitting wasn't difficult, but access to a mill definitely helps. now have to plumb and fit the tank.

Hi Mark,

Your work looks very good.

A quick question however. Does the pump have be that far forward?

The bend moment from the belt load worries me a bit.

But I am always amazed at how far stuff sticks out of the front of these motors.

By the way, you can do a normal round tank in front of the passenger footbox. You will have to mount it above the headers and this not optimal for a number of reasons but you can make it work with some thought.

Looks good.

What happened to the motor that Dave had in there?

hello richard,

it does look like the pump sticks out quite a bit and i was thinking the same thing. i could possibly move the pump back one section but this might cause the weight on the bracket to become unbalanced or even move the bracketry back somehow. i measured where the damper locates and put the pulleys on, it really was not that far forward, just enough room to get an alternator pulley between the pump belt and damper. there is also a piece that mounts between the damper and pulleys. the pulley on the pump looks to be on the middle of the shaft or closer to the pump. john at aviad set the pump up this way so i guess i didn't question the position too much since it seemed to fit. anyway, i'll keep your observation in mind when things start going together. be a bummer if i had to move it after all the plumbing was finished.

the tank will prob go inside the footwell and sacrifice some of the passenger leg room. i can sit in the passenger seat and stretch my legs out and barely touch the other end and i'm over 6'. amazing! i found a pretty nice square unit with an oberg sitting on top or will go with a round unit. i think the round unit would deareate better but i want to get as much oil in there as possible and keep it low along with the plumbing so i don't get into problems with the tank backfilling the engine pan or the lines draining out.

dave's motor is sitting in many parts all over the shop. after many attempts at correcting problems i finally gave up and tore it down, i could go into specifics but it wouldn't do anybody any good. no reflection on dave but i think he could have done better for 10g. anyway, i was wanting to do an aly motor just not this soon.

i sent you an email questionaire, did you get it? thanks for your input.

mark

Hi Mark,

No I did not receive your email. But that is not your fault. Due to way too many spam emails I disabled that account.

I have updated the one listed here and it will now work.
