Default 428 Stroker, Pump Gas, 636HP, 620ft/lbs

You do not have to always use a 427 to make some good street driven horsepower. We did this 428 for Todd Burnside in Plano,TX after he had several people attempt to build him a decent 428. He had a .060 block with a Scat 4.250 stroke crank to produce 468 C.I.. This engine is 10.6 to 1 with one of our Comp Cams hydraulic roller cams. You do not have to adjust the valves, have some special gas, just put in premium pump gas and go have fun. This engine even surprised me a little. We used our Stage 2 Edelbrock heads with only 2.09 and 1.66 valves because of the 428 block and how the engine would be used. The Edelbrock Perfomer RPM intake has been working great along with the Da Vinci 950 carburator. These engines idle on 800RPM's and make over 600HP. Max tourqe was at 4800RPM's and max HP at 6000RPM's. The tourqe was over 500 by 2800 RPM's. This will make a great Cobra engine and not break the bank. We can do these all day long for 12950.00 complete of the dyno out right. Not many people can deliver that kind of power for that money. I knew those 428's could still make some good power. KC

I am assuming you can stil buld these "all day long", but what would this cost if I were to get one today the same specs as above.

The engine that we did above would run about 11,000.00 give or take a little depending on the parts used. We build these at about 10.5 to 1 with the Stage 2 heads and Comp Cams hydraulic roller camshaft. We have several 428 sevrice blocks that will make a .020 to .030 bore size. These engine will make about 580 to 600HP depending on the camshaft used and around 600 ft/bls torque. I like to try and be very realistic about the power level. We have built some of the 428 engines with a little less compression and camshaft for customers just wanting to make around 550HP.
To mkae the 650 to 700HP like was asked you would have to increase the compression some and go to a solid roller so that you could turn the engine up. You might even go from the Edelbrock Performer RPM to the Victor intake to get that power. You would also need to run our main girdle because you start pushing the limits of the block. You might even want to go the 427 cross-bolt block at this point. Hope this helps a little bit with the questions. Thanks, Keith
