Will be going to a 3.31 this time from a 3.54. I have a TL. The 3.54 kept the motor in the meat of the powerband just like Jamo mentioned (about 3700 at fwy. speed). This was actually a good match for my car's power characteristics--that is the motor didn't come on the cam until 3300. So, you were always were you wanted to be band-wise.

The new engine will have more cubic inches, so I am thinking the 3.31 will allow a lower cruising rpm that matches well with the additional torque. For me too, I drove at 3700+ rpms for many hours at a time, and I did not find it tedious. Kind of liked the sound.

JW-
Gas mileage is all relative. If I can get 12 instead of 10, that's a huge improvement. But I do like to throw it into 5th and cruise.

Dave,

I emailed you about the pipes but then saw that you had started another thread. Thanks.

WOO HOO!!! That's some motor!!!

Don't let anyone spoil your fun. If they don't like what you post, they don't have to read it. Seems to me that most of the people here are here because they're curious, interested and enthusiastic, about their cars and yours.

Enjoy your car. Hope to see you and your car sometime this summer.

Lowell

Jamo, Bill... thanks for the input on the transmission / differential stuff. It's all good stuff to know as I ponder my decision!

Thanks Lowell ! It's all about the people and the cars... I've never seen any two of these beauties configured identically so you're bound to ruffle some feathers when you have this many strong-willed diverse individuals.

I'll say this... the positive, inquisitive and encouraging messages I received FAR outnumbered the negative messages... so it's all good.

We'll get together this summer.
