this is a KC 428 stroked to 461. Made 601 hp and I think 619 tq. This motor was installed in Coach Mike's Hurricane Cobra.

Another shot of one of Keith's 482ci FE's. Keith really does nice work and the performance of his engines is excellent!

... my Dart-blocked KCR aluminum 427W...
made 612 hp/615 tq...
Have had several people come up to me when I park & say "nice-sounding big-block!" Most can't tell it's a small-blocked monster til I lift the hood. Is nice to have plenty of room to work on it in the engine bay.

Rich A,
If you are still interested in pictures, Keith’s team just started building the KCR 408 Street Crate Engine for my SPF this week. Lance said he will try to send some pictures to me as time permits. I’ll try to post some shots of the engine build, engine install and finished product.

I had only one surprise when I purchased my engine from Keith. His 24 months/24K mile warranty does NOT cover Main Rear Seal Leaks! You discover this when the engine is delivered after you read the FINE PRINT on the Warranty. It's not surprising Keith didn't mention this when he talked about the Warranty in this thread!
Anyhow, my engine leaked like a sieve from day one. The only advise I got was to add a "thickener" to the oil to try to plug the leak. As you can imagine, it never worked and I had to spend my own money to ultimately fix it which wasn't cheap. You should not have to go through this when you shell out $25K on a brand new engine! This was very disappointing!
I suspect this problem occurs quite a bit...otherwise there would not be a special Warranty exemption. So buyer beware...

What a Christmas Present!
This is my new 428FE that Keith shipped to me just in time for Christmas! 520HP and tons of low end torque!
Can't wait to finish the install!

The reason we have not warrantied rear main leaks is because we do not make the blocks or cranks. This is an area that is machined by the block manufacturer and there is no way for us to re-machine this area. We have done some things in the last few years to help with some of these problems. With the one piece rear main seal on the small block that Ford went to in about 1981 pretty much fixed the small block stuff.
We did not design the FE engine block and it has always been a problem. We mike the machined area and even shim the rear seals some plus we now have come up with some what of a second seal on the FE engine. This has all seamed to help with the FE engine. We can machine the small block for a rear seal if it does not have it but can not do anything with the FE because of the way it is designed.
We oil dye test each engine and we have had a few that checked fine on the dyno and then after install have had a small leaks. I will say with the new things that we are doing the rear seal leaks are less. The aluminum blocks will have a little more problem because of the way the block grows and contracts, but these are much better as well. With as many parts as we handle we might get a bad part from time to time.
I hope everything else is well and maybe there are some tricks that we do not know about these FE rear main seals. Can always learn something.
Thanks, Keith

I think that back in the late 50s early 60s that Shell and Texaco straight wt non detergant oils leaked less--the multi grades leaked so bad out of the GM Corvair aircooled engines that they started telling everybody to use Shell/Texaco.
The new modern syn oils of 0-x wts will be pretty much impossible to be 100% leakproof in a oil system that isn't a full vacume assisted crankcase
