This car was for sale 2 years ago. Did it never sell or sold and being resold? I wonder what the origianl build cost with the copper body was?

I recall talking to the two gents who first bought it when we were waiting for our planes out of SLC...they really thought they knew everything there was to know about the Kirkhams (I pretty much passed myself off as just an attendee to the open house).
I didn't mention that Sammich and I had to each lift one side of the hood to get it off the body. Given the heft, I'm thinking a 1,000 hp ought to produce the performance of a modern GM V6 in this thing.
Don't get me wrong...assolutely stunning to look at.

Man that poor thing has become a bit of an orphan. It's making it's "annual" round of "for sale" again. I wonder if it's still shiny or has started to turn a little green by now?

Two questions. Why are several rivets missing from the hood scoop? and why was it built out of such a thick copper if it is that darned heavy?

I always ass/u/med that it was copper plating on an aluminum skin. If this thing is actually skinned in solid copper, as comments above indicate, I can't imagine its weight. I'd guess the skin would have to be at least 12 gauge (0.08 inches) in most places, thicker in some stress areas. Aluminum is 1.14 pounds per square foot at that gauge; copper is almost four times that. So... complete WAG... skin alone weighs 6-700 pounds?
Copper is a very poor metal to construct things out of - way too soft and reactive. This thing would probably dent from a hard stare, and anything like normal driving would probably shake stress ripples into it. It would also cost you a fortune in metal polish - or were they smart enough to clearcoat the body?
Crazy-ass take, even for the Cobra world.

It was a "what if..." They also put a copper-bodied 40s-something Ford roadster on a Ford GT chassis provided by Ford which knocked everyone's socks off at SEMA.
Crazy? Yup...like foxes. Someone bought it, didn't they?

That's strange, because I don't remember it being for sale before. Personally, I think it's really cool and would be interested, but for the price.
Gunner, I'm not sure when it was built and what KMP serial number is, without my handy dandy SAAC Registry in front of me, but if Chas' and Patrick's ERAs are about 2,650 lbs, and my Kirkham weighs in at 2,128, then the additional weight of the copper would bring the total weight of the copper Kirkham, with an aluminum engine, to the approximate weight of an ERA.
To me, that would be one cool car to own, although polishing copper may make polishing aluminum look like a day at the beach.

Beat them up on price and buy it Rod. Then swap in your 482 and sell 539 as a roller. You'll do OK-just forget Roush anything.

Chas, while I'm dreaming anyway, I would want to keep 539 and then drop my future all-aluminum Cammer in the Copper car.
