Maybe. However, copper being much softer than aluminum I may be off by several mils on the skin thickness and in additional bracing and support layers. I would love to know what the beast actually weighs.

Well, I would definitely drive it to the show. No trailer queens over here.
Someone ought to buy that thing and drop an engine and tranny in it. How long has the Copper car been without "motor-vation"?
Kinda reminds me of that bronze 3XXX car that was sold (or for sale) recently at auction. At $125K, I would be thinking about a real '66-'67 Shelby anyway.

Interesting comment by David K. about the copper car weighing about the same as an original Cobra but less than a current Kirkham in alloy. So, the weight difference won't be a big factor on performance, unless you plan to go racing. An unlikely pursuit with THIS car.
The car has in fact been offered for sale before. I'm wondering how many owners it has now had since it was originally sold by Kirkham? Looks like the plans to make "10" fell through as apparently this is "one of one".

300lbs more according to the thread...like I said, it took two of us to lift the unmounted hood.
Comparing it to an original Cobra...with an iron block, heads, etc....versus a Kirkham with the attributes of an arruminum motor, etc. So...that extra weight is all in the body.

Well, if I bought it, at least I wouldn't be asked the "Is that chrome paint?" question.
To me, the added weight is negligible, unless I installed a cast iron SOHC engine.

Yeah, the weight is nicely distributed across the whole vehicle, as opposed to "engine weight" on the front end only. Yeah, it's "heavy" but not enough so that it becomes a big issue, for THIS car.
Eh eh, taking the hood off requires a couple of big guys though, so maybe there is more on the front than you would think.

Putting it in perspective, my old '66 Corvette Convertible was 3,000+ lbs and you needed two people to take the hood off the car.

The last time the copper cobra was for sale I tried to work a trade deal, I can't remember all the details, but 2 Kirkhams for I copper Kirkham. He wanted to cash out. I thought he might have an easier time selling 2 cheaper Kirkhams than 1 high dollar one........Ron

That car really is spectacular in person and it is a huge pain to keep clean. Finger prints on the car turn root beer brown within a day or two. When I first went to see the car, Thomas and Dave had me open the hood. I thought the latch handle was going to rip out of the metal it was so heavy. There is a little porosity on the welds in spots just because welding copper is such a pain in bum. Most people do not notice that though.
If I had 125k to spend on art, this is what I would get. If I had another big wad-o-cash I would drop a SOHC in it and have something really nice to look at.

They tried selling it on ebay several times.
Rock Hill isn't very far from Gastonia, so I doubt it's changed hands.
Looks amazing, but there's no way I'd want to keep it polished. Now brushed with a clear laquer to seal it would be the ticket...
$125K for the only one in the world? Well, there's something to that as well.

I was hunting around for info on it and thought I saw where it got a 428 installed in it. Was it ever running and titled? I also saw it advertised sometime ago on Club Cobra for $100K:

If Kirkham had used a copper alloy with around 5% germanium in it there wouldn't be all of this hand-wringing worry about tarnishing and polishing.
