TOTAL waste of money for $50k in my opinion unless you have a thing for movie props. I wouldn't want it at $35k either, but some might. And I'm with RodKnock - no one would believe you anyway.

Hello! I am the buyer of the ironman Kirkham. I do not expect it to sell on ebay, but i thought i would put it out there just to see what type of interest it would attract. I am not an extreme ironman fan, but i am sure there are a few out there that would love to have this particular car.
I'm very happy with my purchase and i look forward to building it. I spoke with Kirkham this morning and they are putting a price list together for me for new suspension and the missing parts. I was unaware that the control arms were blems when i bid on the car. I thought that they had "for film use only" written on them due to the metal strut that was bolted in place of the coilovers. After i took more photos i noticed REJECT stamped into the front upper control arms. That is ok though! The paint is good on the car and there are not any imperfections in the frame or body. So, i feel that i am still coming out ahead on the purchase. I built and owned another brand replica in the past and while it was fun, i was not pleased with the overall quality and ride. I've always dreamed of owning a kirkham and now i have one. I guess i can understand some of the animosity, but i hope we can put that behind us. I look forward to sharing the build with the forum.

Good suggestion on the tag!
So, is it an acceptable practice to put a 428FE in these cars? I was in the process of building a 428/462FE stroker with a roller cam, edelbrock heads, etc for a 68 mustang restomod, but that project will most likely be sold now and the engine will need a new home.
The car is actually still sitting in Indianapolis at the Mecum auction. I just hope it survives the crowd for a few more days. There were people crawling all over it-sitting in it, slamming the hood shut, after opening the hood and being crushingly disappointed(no pun intended) that there was not an engine, etc.

Hey Patrick it's actually Fe MAN.
We have no animosity. We were commenting on a unique Kirkham on eBay. Considering the KMP502 was crushed and bought in the $teens, $35K doesn't sound that bad.
I'm still dreaming of the Copper Kirkham. Best of luck with sale or build. If you build it, then start a thread here.

I asked the same question here years ago, but for the life of me, I can't think of any 427 Kirkhams with a 428 in it. At least the people that hang out here. I'm sure there must be some, but the preponderance of Kirkhams have 427's.

I would say there is a 99.9 percent chance that i will be keeping and building/finishing the car. I'm just not sure if i can justify spending the extra money right now on an aluminum block. Now, if i find a side oiler for a reasonable price that has not been totally molested, then that is another story, but the chance of that happening are slim to none. Perhaps the car should have some iron in it though, considering its history.
I was really surprised that the crushed car went for 17,500, but i am sure somebody has a unique place or museum for the car.
