The intake and Carb have arrived.
Yes, i know this is not really an update, but i have nothing to work on until the other parts show up. Sigh! My box of Kirkham goodies should be here on Wednesday and then i can start making some good progress again. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC_0232.jpg Quickfuel Carburetor. It appears that everybody likes this brand, but this is my first time to use one. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC_0233.jpg |
Some small progress. I find out tomorrow if the 3rd piston order will be correct. I sure hope so as the roller will most likely be more or less finished in the next week.
Special thanks to the Kirkhams for the scratch and dent sale-that saved me a bundle! I owe you guys more Scones! The carpet smelled funky like cat urine, so it is now gone and will be replaced with some nice new fresh wool carpet from Kirkham http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC_0002.jpg New Pedal Assembly http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...DSC_0003-1.jpg http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC_0007.jpg Removed the custom plate that was put in place to hold the steering shaft. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...DSC_0008-1.jpg http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC_0010.jpg Throttle pedal assembly. One problem though, the holes on the bracket coming off the frame do not line up with the holes in the throttle pedal assembly box. Simple fix is i drill the holes a little bigger. However, i have one question; should there be spacers between the frame rail and the box to fill the void? http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC_0018.jpg |
Thanks for the scones, very addicting. yes you do need spacers between the frame and the foot box. great job on the build i wanted one of those cars. When the movie came out a friend of the shop took us to see the movie and watch the other car get smashed. I had mixed feelings on one hand oooh they smashed the car but the other yaaa the car is in Ironman. I think you will have fun with it when your done!

Looking good....headers coming your way Friday!

Thanks David! Just let me know what i owe!!! |
Has anyone told you yet that you have the braided lines to the fluid reservoirs upside down?
The 90 degree angle goes on the master cylinder end. This keeps them away from the headers. My car also has a plate between the master cylinders and the headers. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/KMS_1628.jpg Paul |
Thanks for the picture and response!
I was not aware that i had them facing the incorrect way. I will reverse them and bleed the brakes again this evening. |
The hardware came in for the coilovers. She is back on all 4s and is now on the lift. That should make life a lot easier. I washed and waxed the car for the first time today. The paint feels smooth as silk now.

sweet...glad you did not part with it...its really looking great!
|
Resto ... You have made great progress ... the bottom side looks almost as good as the top side :D
Bet it feels good to have a 'roller', what's left on the list to finish ? |
Oh, just a few things left to finish. ;)
1. Front and rear parking lamps-waiting on connectors * 2. Steering-waiting on intermediate shaft * 3. Carpet * 4. Drivers and passenger seats-waiting on seat and seat tracks 5. MSD connections-going to need to spend some time on the phone with tech support 6. Button up wiring to frame rails 7. Fuel pump 8. Engine and trans-Engine should be ready the week after next if the piston rings arrive early this upcoming week. * 9. Fuel pressure regulator 10. Solenoid 11. Horns * 12. Radiator and fan * 13. Roll bar bezels/grommets 14. Remove windshield, cut rails, and reinstall with gaskets under trim plates 15. Trunk latch * 16. Hood latches * 17. Rivet hood in place with correct Rivets 18. Install fuel tank * 19. Install fuel lines 20. Differential breather * 21. Headers and sidepipes-Still trying to decide what to do with pipes-white or stainless. 22. Battery 23. Alignment/tuning 24 Seat Belts For the most part, i am simply waiting on parts. Stars indicate parts that i do not have, but that should arrive soon. I will probably knock out the rest of the wiring, the windshield, and remove the remaining old, dry, smelly carpet this upcoming week. |
White on the side pipes is my vote.........
|
That is what i am leaning towards. I know i will need to repaint them often, but i think it is important to keep the car looking the same as it was in the movie.
|
That's quite a list ... but a lot shorter than when you started!
You certainly are well organized which helps and the car will be worth all the hard work you have put into it. Any thoughts of a 'reunion' of your car and the crushed movie car? |
Great looking car, I have had two movie cars - the closer they are to how they were shot is what you need to shoot for. It makes a big difference. I had the "Charlies Angles Blue Bronco" Even though the rollbar had a backwards brace- I put it back just like it. The guy that gave me the obsene amount would have noticed.

Chris,
Did Steve get a hold of you yet? I was in Texas all last week. David :):):) |
