Did you note how there are not any drain holes in the back like most blocks and how each area of the velley is separated by reinforcement ribbing? It helps with lubricating the cam in the correct way i am sure and is a better design than just having the oil drain down the back of the block. Not to mention, how else would the oil return to the pan if it were not designed that way?
