The problem with doing that is they are usually a little wavy. To smooth them out, you will need to remove quite a bit of material and on the sharp 90 degree bends in these areas it is very easy to burn a hole through the body. If that happens, then you need to find someone that can weld aluminum and call Kirkhams to get a bit of parent material to use as a rod to do so. And then when you are cleaning up the fresh weld you may burn through the body again, or warp it more...
Having said all that, you can clean them up quite a bit though. Just be careful as you do it. You probably won't get the same shine as the body, but you can get it pretty close.
