Tracked for the First Time
I tracked my Kirkham for the first time yesterday at Donington Park.
I had an absolute blast and the Kirkham performed impeccably and was really confidence inspiring. The Goodyear tyres were brilliant and progressive without any of the grip, grip, grip, spin characteristics of modern low-profile tyres.
This was my first ever proper track day and I can't wait for the next one. If you haven't tracked your Kirkham yet, get out there and do it, you're missing a real treat. If you're only driving on the public roads, you probably aren't even scratching the surface of what these cars are capable of.

Sorry, I meant to include this with the first post:
I have plenty more hi-res images, but I'm out of space in my gallery.

Looks fantastic Paul! Right where it belongs :-)
You should put the other pics on photobucket or such, I want to see them, as others members want to too ;-)

Nice one Paul, good pictures to boot!
I've got a mate asked me if I wanted to do Paul Ricard circuit in June- I was quite keen til he told me it's the wrong side of 600€
Alright for him and his GT3!
Apparently it's a safe track- lots of run off. What's donnington like now? They changed some bits haven't they?

Although I don't have much experience of different tracks, I thought it was great, with a good variety of technical corners and coming down through Craner Curves is fantastic when you get it right.
The only change from pre-F1 fiasco is that the chicane has moved about 100 yards along the Dunlop straight, so the Dunlop straight is shorter and the start straight is longer. Apart from that, there's no change.

Right down to the bone and it hurts.
The problem we have over here is that almost every track day has strict noise restrictions of 105dB at most. I had my Cobra measured at 120dB.

Rig up some extra mufflers with the tips turned down...I snuck into Laguna Seca that way.

Jamo,
Do you have any idea what level you got the noise down to?
I was going to look at cutting the tail pipes off and inserting some removable baffles in the end and then mounting the tailpipes again so that they could be rotated to point down at the ground when necessary.
I don't want to spoil the original look too much.
Thanks,
Paul
