I'd like to get it machined before the open house, but its not looking good so far.
Anyway, from what I've heard, the wet sleeve block made about 630hp, I never saw the dyno sheet, but it seems to pull really hard at 5000 rpm. Its left some brown in my underwear a few times in 3rd gear.

If you google the Nikasil lined cylinder you hear nothing but horror stories about this method, any news on what the second block will use for sleeves.

Some old flathead V8 Fords had steel liners and cast iron rings.
Some were the opposite with iron liners and steel rings.
Some had no liners.

My dad is in a Nursing Home, but the family owned the Ford dealership here from 1929 -1967. He would know whether it was a 21 or 24 stud V8.

Do you think steel sleeves would work on FE engines with cast iron rings?

[b]Dave, I noticed Ford is using a plasma spray coating on their new 5.8 liter engine used in the Shelby GT500 super charged car. Any chance your new billet block could take advantage of this technology?
Just wondering...........

Ford has a patent on there spray bore, probably not going to be able to use their technology.

So as of now it looks like we are going to bag the nikasil design, and go back to some kind of sleeve design.

Darton will let you design your own sleeve on there website, why won't they let you order sleeves from them for your specs and use in your own block, they are really doing you an injustice in my view. Grow up Darton.

Default pressed in sleeves

not sure if there's room for this design. I work on cast alum engines where the pressed in steel sleeve is not wet. also, as for the billet heads why not go two piece?
