Billet Aluminum FE Oil Pan :)
Guys,
Many of you know I had a cracked oil pan in the prototype billet chassis car last track day that side-lined me...never again 
Today the final pieces came off the CNC mill for our latest in billet parts--A billet aluminum FE oil pan 
No more cracks

We will make the pan to fit on any standard FE.

View with the lower 1/2 removed. I can't tell you how many times we wanted to check the bottom end of the motor and couldn't because we have to jack up the motor to remove the oil pan in a Cobra--not any more

We milled a scraper directly into the oil pan to minimize weight, parts, and failure points.
(NOTE: this pan has been machined to fit our billet aluminum block. Our pan will fit a standard FE as well).

We used an o-ring to seal the top 1/2 to the bottom 1/2. (We have used an identical type of construction in our billet radiator tanks for a long time now with no leaks.)

We machined a diamond shaped trap directly into the bottom of the oil pan. We did sloshing tests with water in an oil pan and found the original type "square" oil trap did not capture nearly as much oil as a diamond shaped trap. The trap doors will be made from aluminum we cut out on the water jet.

A pure billet oil pan with a removable bottom - That's what Ford
or Shelby should have had from the beginning!
You fellows just continue to raise the bar and you do it so eloquently.
My hat is off to the fine bunch of craftsmen at Kirkham!
Now, the next question is, when will they be ready for the rest of us? |

They will be ready for sale this next week. It will take a few days to get the billets in (there is about $300 just in aluminum blocks). The pan will retail for around $1,000. We will have special introductory pricing for Club Cobra members for a few days this next week.
But, you'll have to wait until I can get one on my 116 car. (The billet chassis prototype car. We have another track day coming up on the 10th and I'm not DNF'ing with another cracked pan.)

Whenever my pan comes off again (hopefully not soon), one of these is going back on. Whoever thought and oil pan could be art, not to mention a huge upgrade over the originals?
