Iron Man Movie Kirkham Build Thread without posts

I thought it would be nice to have a build thread without posts to make the build easier to view.

May of 2010 at the Mecum auction in Indianapolis where i purchased the uncrushed Kirkham built for the movie Iron Man.










-Transferring the car from the reliable carriers truck onto my trailer.




-August 2010
Beginning the wiring harness installation.

-Replacing the reject suspension with the New Kirkham Suspension.

-One rear tire was mounted on a front wheel and one front tire on a rear wheel.

New Smith's gauges installed in the old vinyl dash, which i eventually ended up replacing with new leather from Kirkham.

New headlamp assemblies.





Fresh new wiring-done correctly i might add.



Hood prop



Trunk prop rod. I bought this from finishline and when it arrived i realized that I did not need the brackets attached to the ends. I simply drilled the rivets out, removed the end brackets, and then attached directly to the mounting locations on the car.

The carpet smelled funky, like cat urine, so it had to come out.



Pedal Assembly






Removed the custom plate that was put in place to hold the steering shaft.

Old vinyl and glue removed from Aluminum dash panel.

Billet reservoirs, feed lines, and brake lines ready for initial brake bleed.



Hardware came in for the coilovers. She is back on all 4 wheels and is now on the lift.

Engine being assembled at ProLine Racing in Georgia.







Edelbrock cylinder heads after being ported and having larger valves installed at Keith Craft.

Before intake was port matched. The intake manifold ports matched up perfectly to the cylinder head ports before they were ported. This shows you why the edelbrock heads really need to be professionally ported.

-Removed windshield and cut the bars so they would not poke someone in the leg. Polished windshield posts, installed new sliding mirror, which required a lot of trimming, installed new grommets, and put the windshield back in place.







-Fancy Kirkham coolant tank with new -4 AN braided lines.



-Nick Acton's Throttle Linkage



Roll bar removed for polishing and bulkhead removed for powdercoating. Also installed rollbar grommets.







Driveshaft and driveshaft safety loop are in.

The Kirkey Racing seat that came with the car. Since it was new, I decided to keep it and use it with a set of the Kirkham Billet aluminum seat tracks and custom mounting plates..

Prepping hood and scoop for the paint shop. The scoop was riveted in place with rivets that were too short, which decided to pull out one day when I was opening the hood by using the scoop. The scoop was installed prior to painting, so the paint peeled off of the hood with the scoop when the rivets failed.



New Button head bolts. Some will probably not like them, but i think they look good.



Sanded down and ready to go to the paint shop for more sanding, prep, and to have the stripes sprayed.

Goodyear Billboard Tire lettering-The letters on the right rear tire were the most worn. I thought about making a template, but instead i just decided to tape the tires, carefully cut around the letters, and respray them.
