Default 427 Street Fresh Air Intakes--Billet Aluminum

We just finished these up today for Lew's KMP0300 car. On an original 427 Street car the fresh air intakes took air from the S/C brake inlet location. Also, the intakes originally were made from fiberglass. We made them from billet aluminum and welded the 1/2's together

(Originally, the S/C took the incoming air from the radiator inlet.)

Working on the blocks--slowly. We are focusing right now on our Coupes.

Yes, we will sell them. They are $250 retail. I'll put them on sale for $175. Speaking of that--maybe it is time for another Garage Sale...

Beside the word "billet" in the dictionary, there should be a Kirkham logo. You guys have redefined the art of combining form and function...!

(I am ready to pounce on some brake reservoirs if you start another garage sale!)

They're undoubtedly beautiful, but wouldn't they have been easier, cheaper and lighter to produce from sheet aluminium and just as effective?

Or am I missing something?

To make the inlets from sheet metal we would need to make a form. (Of course, we would do that on a CNC). Then we would have to form the metal over the form and weld it all together--by hand. Forming the sheet metal would take quite a bit of time, not the mention skill. We indeed have the skill, we don't have the time. In the end, why not just billet the parts if you are going to billet a form anyway? So, that is what we did. There is the added benefit of everything come out exactly in the shape you want them when they are made from billet on a CNC. It really is what we specialize in.

Hey David, can you tell us what the remainder of the plumbing is or would look like? If you have a car set up with this in the shop, I'd like to come over and take a look at it.

The car is back with the customer in Pennsylvania. The plumbing is identical to the S/C version of the car--you just run the hose to the brake inlets instead of the nose.
