You would make me a decent painters helper Mr.stang. Any grit in the 120-220 range would get bare metal ready for vinyl wash primer and 3-4 coats of urethane primer/surfaced. 220 is a little short on tooth but I wouldn't pick a fight over it. If you made more than 139k painting cars last year than you win. Jeesh...

Bare metal, or raw aluminum? Are you shooting Enamel, Urethane, or Waterborne? I'd love to see you try to Eprime over a raw aluminum body sanded to 120 grit with just the recommended coats.....

When was the last time you prepped a raw aluminum body for paint (mine was December 2011 just before the switch to water borne)....

As much as I'm sure the 15K Kirkham charges for a finished brushed/polishing is well worth it, it puts another hit to my finances. Does anyone know what the charge is for just the 300 grit finish? what finished would be consider paint ready? There's a painter located just 30 miles from me that is rather well know for painting cobra's, his work is really top notch. I love the brushed look but sometimes I feel I will miss detailing the car and seeing a color just pop.

Really, the decision is up to you. Whatever you want is really what you should get. Don't let anyone else make the decision for you--you have to live with the car in the end.

If you are going to paint the car, just get it in the filed finish.

If you are really considering a car in the near future, you need to place the order ASAP. We are now sold OUT through February 2014. (We took a deposit for 6 cars this week alone). We have customers we are working deals with that may put our deliveries out much further.

Finally, we are strongly considering a price increase--very soon.

Good news for Kirkham, bad news for anyone considering a Kirkham in the future.

Purely for curiosity, what has been the breakdown 289 vs. 427, street vs. S/C & FIA, if you even have those figures in your head?

From out of my head...

We have something like 75 of the 289 cars. We have made about 800 cars total. My guess is 35 of the 75 are 289 Street cars.
