Mine's going on 10 years, never been rebrushed, washed a few times a year to take off the grime and Windexed every now and then. No problems period despite all the assperts preaching doom.

You're comparing apples with bananas Jamo. The aluminium used on the AC is very different to that used on the Kirkham.

I've been using Dawn detergent and water to wipe my aluminum down. Follow up with a towel with straight water and buff down with the grain with a clean towel. Windex and lacquer thinner seem to oxidize the aluminum leaving a white haze. The Dawn leaves a cleaner aluminum finish. Dawn will remove most grease. Not sure about silicone. I always thought alcohol was the way to remove silicone? Give it a try.

Paul...besides the fact that you folks/blokes can't pronounce it correctly, what's really that different about the metal composition?
car4jim...are you using the original Windex or the newer stuff (like Coke and New Coke)? Actually yes, the Windex will leave a slight film if not used sparingly. Also, I use cloth baby diapers and give it a damn good rub when wiping it off.

You'd need to talk to the brothers K' about that, but it is much harder on the Kirkham bodies.

I used to use window cleaner (same as Paul suggested), but could never get rid of the finger prints in my brushed Kirkham body. I tried WD-40 and it not only cleans better than window cleaner, but it also protects to alloy from finger print staining and also corrosion / oxidation. Plus it's really quick and easy to do - spray on, wipe off. :-)

Car4jim and 98coupe thanks for your advice. I think ill give the wd40 a try and see how I get on.
I dont know what the difference is between the ac and kirkhham aluminium but they both look great dont they!
