Kirkham Motorsports 20 year anniversary/reunion
This is Sandwich here from Kirkham Motorsports
I've been wanting to get some discussion going about this upcoming event we would like to have. Its going to be 20 years for us in 2015, and we want to make it a big special event.
I think it would be super cool to try and get as many of our customers cars back together for a big "family picture". There will likely be a track event, and some kind of drive up in the mountains. Perhaps a car show with awards for best of show, most miles on car, most patina, who came from the furthest distance to be at the event, etc.
I think the event will be open for anyone else who wants to be a part of it also.
I think it would be good to hold it in May or June some time.
Anyway, some thoughts on the whole thing would be great
Perhaps a list of people who think they would like to make the trek out here also.
Thanks
Dave Cindrich (Sandwich)

Surprised a little that this post hasn't gotten a single response. Perhaps its that the potential Kirkham Motorsports event is still more than a year away. I can barely think about what is a day away let alone a year away.
But, if anyone has any input, it would be interesting to see what you think would make for a worthwhile event. I guess KMS could take a cue from SAAC gatherings as to what to do. Clearly, as mentioned in Sandwich's post there could be a track day, some time at the shop, and the possibility of a longer cruise through some of Utah's spectacular scenery. A drive from Salt Lake City to St. George in southern Utah takes you from Alpine peaks to the most amazing scenic red-rock terrain in a span of about 4 hours. Maybe the better question is - what would it take to get a Cobra owner, particularly a KMS Cobra owner, to trek out to Utah for a significant milestone like a 20 year anniversary?

Shipping logistics and freight...!
Despite how enticing it sounds, I'm Sorry lads, but there's little chance I'll be able to make it
Best of luck with it.

I just picked up Kirkham 561 and I'd love to make it there. I have a Kirkham built car on my CSX 4000, but the idea of an aluminum body car without paint always was on my wish list.

What would it take?
A transporter from SoCal!
Maybe some of us could put our heads and dollars together...

Although my (former) Kirkham resides in Austria or Switzerland or someother mountinous part of Europe, I'd be interested in participating with my GT40.
I assume that would be OK?
BTW, Sandwich, you and Joe pounded out the fender of my SC at the 2007 WSCB. Never forgot that. Thanks, again!

Rodney, I'd consider sharing a transporter with you, if they could pick my Cobra up in SF Bay Area. Little Sandwich is right. Being a year away, a bit tough to think about at the moment.
In fact, I'd probably keep it there at Kirkham Motorsports for some "upgrades" and a re-polish after 8 years.

How about a great deal for those who order now and take delivery at the event?

Yes, good times at the WSCB!
You are more than welcome to come to this event with your GT40, I'm sure while it is there we will take some pictures of it so some day we can make our own
I know its a long ways away, but I want to just get some discussion about it so people can think about it, and plan for it as we sort out more of the details.

These are all great responses. Knowing Kirkham Motorsports like I do I'm sure they'd try to make it worth every owners while to get to the event. Maybe that's a refresh on the polish or the brush. Maybe a cool upgrade of some sort. Maybe Dave will sign dashboards with a big silver paint pen! I definitely understand the logistics of cost associated with bringing a car out. I can vouch for two things - running hot laps at Miller Motorsports park is the most invigorating thing I've every done in a leather seat and touring southern Utah in an open cockpit car is one of most inspiring things I've ever done in a leather seat. Hopefully we'll keep this thread alive and when the event draws closer really take all input and put together an event worthy of the 20 year wait!

What would it take? Not much. If I had a Kirkham, I'd be there.

Bring your tape measure, too.
BTW, the more track time, the better. Museum access would be great too!

I don't even own a Kirkham and I'd like to go this event! I do have lots of Kirkham parts in my roadster, though- does that count?

I wish Chicago was closer to Utah, for many reasons. Put me down as a maybe. There are lots of logistics to deal with on this one.
