What do you guys use for a floor jack?

I want to buy a good quality jack. I was thinking of a Compac. They are made in Denmark but their min height is 3.5 inches. Will that fit under the car?

I have a Harbor Freight 6 ton floor jack that works great. It just barely fits under the frame from the side, but enough to get it positioned. They also offer a low profile aluminum jack that would be great but I needed a jack large enough to also lift my truck and other vehicles if necessary.

Check out the AC low profile jack DK20. 3.15". Not cheap but it's very high quality. Find it at Pelican Parts.
I also got Acton's jack attachment for round tube frames.

I have this one also and the next size larger,maybe 2 or 2.5 tons,aluminum jack also......the big is about shot as it has been used and abused for 10 years now.......the pump needs rebuilding....

the smaller one is not as old and has not been abused like the bigger one, really satisfied with both of them.......

I use the harbor freight low profile 2 ton jack at the race track instead of the 3 ton. It reaches further into the car but loses some of its rating. About 2-3/4 height. It's an offshore unit but gets the job done.

Are you a professional shop with the jack being used 20 times a day or just a hobbyist and use it monthly or less? If the latter, get the low profile jack from Harbor Freight. My friend with a commercial shop got one for "low profile" cars that come in and loves it.

I have a 100 plus lb lincoln floor jack. A real PIA to move around. Get a lightweight aluminum jack unless you are a professional shop using the jack all day long.

If you only use a jack once a twice a year, maybe the Harbor Freight unit will hold up, they aren't really known for quality and generally are not rebuildable.

If you a quality, rebuildable jack, take a look at the Norco 71233A

I have a 30 by 40 shop and several cars that need a low profile check. I want reliability. I do not need an aluminum Shack. I prefer steel. I have heard that compact are exceptions anyone use one of them

I've used one for eight years and extremely pleased with it.

I Paid an extra $5 for a warranty, ever year I can bring it back no questions asked and get a new jack for no reason, great deal....
most of their stuff is take back get new no questions asked just buy the little warranty..

I went with a Pittsburgh jack. I purchased the 2 ton low profile and used it for the first time yesterday. It was a nice jack. I bought the steel version. Nice and HEAVY and did a good job. We will see if it holds up

The Harbor Freight 2 ton low profile aluminum racing jack has been good for several years of service on the cheap for my Cobra and the race cars, but for my trucks and larger cars I use an old steel Sears Craftsman (slow pump) that I've had for thirty-five years. However, if you have a commercial shop, you have to spend the bigger bucks for quality.

I have had a couple of the aluminum HF jacks. They are light and have smooth operation. But if you use them on a full size truck, they will blow out there seals. I had one last a year and another go six years. If I would have only used them on the cobra, I am sure they would have lasted. Now I have an Arcan xl2 which is very long and sits low at 2.5 inches. But it is over a 100 pounds which stinks if you have to pick it up. I like the length because I can get to the frame rails before the main body gets to the pipes. The negatives of this jack is the saddle is small and does not have a pad?

Sears Craftsman 3 ton shorty. It is an older one, when Sears actually made quality tools.
