This is my favorite photo. There are 6 tubes that run from the chassis to the cowl tube. They all come in at different angles and intersect the cowl tube at different points. CAD lined everything up perfectly.
The two outside tubes appear to not quite line up, but that is a photo problem. The cowl tube is not straight--it arcs through all 6 of these tubes. Beautiful and inspiring work as usual. But even for you guys at Kirkham, isn't this a little over the top, or was it easier to set up the alignment jigs in cad and transfer them to CNC to produce accurately than a traditional jig?

I was tired of traditional jigs and the inaccuracy. I wanted it right. Billet is what we do best.
We drew the entire car in CAD and then made the fixture. It's stunning in real life. David :):):) |

I set out with a goal to have the bonnet, hatch, and doors all interchangeable.
There are very few of us left in the world who can actually make a car by hand. The labor is unreal in a Coupe. We couldn't have any reasonable volume without very good tooling. David :):):) |

David that jig is nice. I know how tuff t is to get then all in the right place without a chassis jig. Keep posting pictures of it in use it inspires me to work on mine.

Most impressive
I own a small machine shop where we do 3d cad design, machine various products, and build jigs and fixtures for other manufacturers, so can truly appreciate the time and effort that has gone into this work that you guys have done. Having the cad and actually putting it to work certainly does make life easier when it comes to putting together geometrically complicated products. Seeing something come together perfectly every time is truly a joy. Keep up the good work!!
