Default Best Hydraulic T/O Bearing for #174..

My HTOB is leaking...%*&^@&*^%$%. The car has a correct cast FE '65 SO, 4 speed top loader, McLeod Bell housing. What's the most reliable and least likely to leak of those available? thanx. s

Good question. I'm all ears. I need one too.

Cheers,

The most reliable is a traditional throw out bearing, clutch fork, and hydraulic slave cylinder.

I tried that initially, and we made a great effort. I'm not an expert on this, but we could never get it right (adjustment and function wise). From the get go when i got my car (an early car, as you can see) David K. said to use a hydraulic T/OB. Finally, in desperation, I bought one from him and it worked great...'till now. s

Did you have a pedal max travel stop installed ? The HTOB's don't have an internal stop, so pushing the pedal too far will extend the piston past the seal and leak or dump most of fluid. It happened to me, but I knew better, so shame on me.
I converted to external slave (the purple one from Speedway Motors) a throwout arm and a clutch disc from McLeod.
I'll try to find pics.
The HTOB's work better IMHO, (less pedal pressure ) but must be set-up as per instructions or you will have problems.
