Just a friendly poke as I was reviewing the Carroll Shelby history for a friend writing an article for a newspaper and seemed to get a little off track when I stumbled across the following:

CSL (Carroll Shelby Licensing) officially shows the CSX6000 series as "CSX6000-series continuation of the CSX4000 series".

So while you do own a car licensed by CSL, you actually own a continuation series of a continuation series cobra replica, produced under license by Superformance Inc, and marketed by CSL for Shelby American as a CSX6000 series "component car" ;):cool::LOL:.

All friendly busting of chops aside, you do have a beautiful car on your hands. May you get as much enjoyment out of it that you so desire.

Uhhhh, how many pieces of an original CSX3xxx car would I need to graft on to my ERA before I could call it an original Cobra?:confused:

Now, when people ask me, "is that real?" I tell them "you bet it is! and what's more, this was Carrol's personal Cobra that he hand built himself." They then take pics, call their friends, go away happy and I feel better about the whole exchange.:cool:

The interesting thing was when I had my car it happened almost every time I took it out. Most had no idea what the car was or even who Shelby was, only that they had never seen one before so they got the short history lesson of the 60's versions and the continuation cars still being made by Shelby. Others said (and I'm not kidding) "Carroll Shelby still makes cars? I thought he was dead". No kidding. Others weren't any more interested than had it been a Model T and just knew it had to be "old" but weren't really interested in knowing the gory details just the basics. With the "Ford V Ferrari" movie the interest in Cobras might be greater now for a while.

Remember, it's not the reality of what they're seeing that matters but rather the perception of what they're seeing. If they believe it to be real, then it is real... to them, at least.:cool:

all CSX 1000/4000/6000/7000/8000/9000 are real Shelby Cobras

not only real Shelbys but also real Cobras because SAI has the rights on the name

nobody claims they are CSX 2000 or CSX 3000 from the sixties

Perhaps, but they are not sold as turn key cars, but specifically labeled "component vehicles" by SAI/CSL in their federal documents. :LOL:

And neither are any of the others sold as turnkey cars. Even your beloved ERA and Kirkham come without an engine. Pretty to park in the living room and look at unless you put a power train in it. Like all of them. Somehow this isn't news. Your point is?
