Kirkham full body PPF
Hello everyone,
Just curious if anyone has applied a full body paint protection film (PPF) to an unpainted Kirkham to help mitigate oxidation, water spots, dirt, fingerprints...
Was it successful?
Cheers

But isn't Windex just basically watered down ammonia with a little blue dye in it?

There is a gentleman here in Lake Geneva, WI that I have seen tooling around in a polished bodied Cobra. Have not gotten a chance to speak to him yet. But it is a thing of beauty!
I did notice, yesterday, when he drove by me in the late afternoon into the lowering sun, that he seemed to have a problem with the sun reflecting off of the hood into his eyes. Little inconvenience for the stunning finish.

I remember there was a thread here re fpp on an alum car, don't remember what make.
He followed up some time later and stated "no problems"
search for that thread.

Thanks everyone. I'll take a look for the ppf thread.
My thoughts were to wrap the entire car for protection from oxidation and misc. deposits but maybe cheaper and easier to keep Windex and towels handy.
Cheers.

Will that stuff even stick to a polished car. I don’t think so.

We have a build coming up for a client of a fully polished car. I'm planning to work with our detailer on ceramic coating options for it. The high end ceramic products are pretty amazing and on a non-daily driver should last for over 5 years.

Thanks for the info Cashburn. I didn't think of ceramic coating, that may be the ticket.
And thanks for the images Dennis. The lower picture is great and I haven't seen that one before. Wonder where that neighborhood is...
Cheers

Cashburn,
I am curious how the ceramic coating turned out on your clients car?

We just received the car a few months ago and it is currently in build at our facility now. We will be crossing the coating bridge in a few more months as the car still has to make one more stop for a custom interior.

Okay, I was curious and hope you can keep us posted when you get to that point...

2345, I think you should check with some of the well experienced PPF installers regarding the use of the film on a polished body. I personally think it would adhere just fine.
My 2¢

Reports from cybertruck owners don't have good experience with ppf on bare metal. It's steel vs aluminum so it might be different. The reports are that it leaves a residue and pretty much you're locked into the cover forever

Hi Tony, I removed some PPF from the snout of my Cobra and there wasn't any residual, but maybe it would be different on bare metal. I'd think a good wash down with maybe brake cleaner would remove any left overs. Who knows what kind of weird-o metal the Cyber trucks are made from....knowing Elon's brain power.

The decision to PPF may not be yours to make. 2/3 local PPF installers refused to install any PPF on my SPF Cobra. It's obviously a difficult job and I guess they felt not worth their time. The one who was willing would only do sections, not the whole car.

No straight lines, no flat surfaces.
Ideal car for a first time fabricator too.
