difficulty putting on the sidepipes

Still having a struggle getting that #7 pipe (second from FW, driver's side) on the #174. Had to "massage" the hell out of it, and utter profane incantations as well...still barely fits, and even then, it is touching the footbox...ouch! I am using Kirkham's motor mounts, with the open part of the mount, facing rearward. Suggestions? thanx steve
